Patch 1.10 - Why Download 24GB ??

FuzzyDunlop81
I have been using ESO since launch and have had intermittent problems with patches, which are made worse by having a slow'ish internet speed where I live.

This week the 1.10 patch is making me download 24GB as other people have noted. I of course would like to know why?

I always work with around 25 - 30GB of spare space on my HDD and I was unable to start the download of the patch until I freed up 50GB of space.... to do this I had to delete a 19GB game!! :/

Now the patch is downloading and it is taking a loooooooooong time. Longer than 24GB would normally take.

..... and apparently the patch is only 450MB.

So between Sony & Zenimax.... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

Nope, 24gb is total game file size - the download is the last 450mb of that file that already exists on your HDD. It's called an incremental download.

Thanks for the reply, but did you read my message fully?

I had to download the FULL 24GBs. I did not just download the small file you refer to.

I am familiar with the incremental patch and that did not happen.

Hence the question in the first place :)

Have a look at this screenshot if you can.... that was part-way through the 24GBs that I downloaded. Or so it tells me.

It certainly took overnight and a good few hours on Friday to complete.

Maybe 99% of it is a ghost download?... and maybe the Zenimax server is telling me PS4 that there is a download happening but really nothing happens until I get to the bit I really do need?

I do know that my file size for ESO is the same as my friends, so I don't know WTF is going on.

But this isn't normal thats for sure!
