Help with Magicka characters

I was leveling a breton magicka NB and once I get into the mid 20's, I found myself being really squishy. I put all my attribute points into magicka, all light armor, and it feels like i can't stay alive in a fight with more than 2-3 enemies or a elite enemy. I know the key to a good magicka build is mobility but I kept finding myself being overwhelmed. Got to the point where I quit playing the character and deleted it. I do solo PvE so I don't really ask for help from the guild( which it seems I'm the only one on sometimes). Maybe I'm running too head long into battle and not staying far enough away, maybe not using the right skills. If anyone has any advice on how to play magicka characters, other than L2P, I would love to have some suggestions. I like the magicka abilities and I'm looking to start a new dunmner dragonknight-but haven't decided if I want to go magicka or stamina based. At least with the dark elf, I can switch between the two if I need to, right?

The key to magicka nb leveling is self healing. Do you have Sap Essence? If not, hang in there till you do.
You'll do better the more enemies you are facing.

Also, Swallow Soul/Funnel Health is mandatory for everything. Just spam it everywhere.

Refreshing Path is also awesome for this build. A little bit for the damage, but mostly for the healing.

Siphoning Strikes in also in the mandatory category, must be up at all times.

For ultimate slot Soul Tether and use either when pulling a large group (if confident) or as an oh sh*t heal.

Lastly, a free slot, maybe use Mass Hysteria if the melee gets too heavy for you.

You go 7/7 light armor and aim for spell damage with your sets.

You need to learn how to play this way, and keep your cool. My health will be on a steady 90-100% and suddenly just drop to 15% only to jump back up. There's an element of timing and calm to the playstyle of killing large group of mobs this way, you need to trust your build.

I hope this makes sense, otherwise ask away =)

NB's are great at Burst Damage on a single mob. As you have discovered, multiple mobs are where you can run into trouble. The advice given above is good to go about handling multiples.

But, as you asked, am I rushing headlong into things, and, well, you just might be. If you watch a 3 mob, one will almost always patrol away from the other two. So, you can wait until the single one patrols away and gets out of aggro range of the other two then take them out after you have dispatched the first one.

You almost need two skill bars on a NB, single target and Multiple Target, although a number of the skills can be used for both.

You can also mix in 2 pieces of Heavy Armor for some more protection (Chest and Legs usually meshes with most Light armors for a good over all look)
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Mark Target will also allow you to get health back for kills. I mark a target, kill one then kill the marked one, then the 3rd. If I haven't lost much health I'll kill 2 before killing the marked one for healing, though there is a duration of i believe 6 seconds.

I think Mark comes around level 30ish though. I don't recall.

Blur will also give you 20% chance to dodge attacks.

Shadow Image (I haven't used) should give you a teleport to help you create distance.

Destro staff's Destructive Reach can help with CC a little bit as well.

Agony will stun one enemy while you fight the other 2 or so.

If you're not having problems with magicka you could always put a few in Health. I usually put 1 of ever 4 in health till i get to 10 then pull them respec my attributes at end game. No shame.

We are all constantly L2P, learnING 2 play. Hope this helps.
