So, do I need to PVP to get the most of ESO's wide array of items and armour?

I don't like pvp is most games, so by sticking to pve will I miss out on much?

I'm a VR1 Orc, but I haven't even looked into campaigns yet.

Should I do them? Do I have to pvp? Can I 'explore' the pvp state?

Fortunately no. You are not forced to PVP to get the best gear. In fact most of the best stuff can be crafted

PvP in ESO is very easy to get into and is a blast once you get the hang of it. There's no harm in giving it a go over a few days. I'll tell you when I first started PvP:

I was but a lowly level 10, after killing flying pigs (Imps) in Glenumbra, I decided it was time for variety. Entering the non-veteran campaign, Blackwater Blade, I saw in chat "type lfg for group", and so I did that. After a substantial period of time walking around the shrine typing lfg, a kind player said to me "use /z", and so I did! Turns out I was typing in /say - local chat, rather than /z - zone chat. Anywhoo, I found a group, and went walking from home gate to a keep. I'll tell you something, make sure you have a horse... When I finally reached a keep, I noticed the NPCs wearing tabards.. an ugly purple one with a green tree.. I thought it was some elite Daggerfall Covenant symbol. (I later found out that a guild can 'claim' a keep and have those NPCs wearing their tabard). I popped out of the keep and.. woah, many players charging into each other, flashes everywhere, explosions, the whole lot. I was gobsmacked, PvP was looked so awesome. I believe I died from being run over by a train.. I tried to forget that.

Eventually over the next few days, I started asking other players and began to gain a sense for PvP. Started making new groups too (Leading without a horse, bad idea) when I got kicked from one for suggesting a different strategy (the follow crown and spam one ability groups, don't join them).

I remember one time, a player named Pox. It was late at night and I always noticed him saying in chat that he had "prepped" a keep. One day I finally asked him what it was and he agreed to take me out on one of his prepping adventures. I arrived about 10 minutes after he did as I was walking and he had a fully-fed horse used to feed horses with apples for speed back in the day).So we were at the East side of Roebeck and he placed down 2 siege weapons, I mentioned that I have my own siege and he didn't need to put one down for me, turns out you can run inbetween 2 or 3 siege weapons and shoot them off while the other(s) reload. I found that so fascinating, after days of using ONE siege, I could use 2 or 3? I made sure to mention this to everyone who I saw with only one siege.

Note: Prepping a keep is taking the inner and outer walls to 50-55%, weaking them before a larger group comes and sets full siege. This is because a keep 'flags' under attack on the map when a wall is under 50%. This is typicalled called Ninjaing a keep. ( I like to think that my guild coined that term)

I rememebred trying to shoot a bow 2 miles above someone's head, like in Skyrim and never hititng anyone. Bows have a lock-on target.. (learnt that when I asked someone how he shot his bow so far when I couldn't hit someone 1m infront)

Our guild was founded during this time, a couple of old BWBians and I. The Ninja Smurfs. Great community still thriving to this day.

Oh and the politics in PvP were fascinating and very involving, back in BWB each alliance had a main leader, we would make alliances and plot against each other to gain control of the map and win the campaign.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is PvP is great, and it's not only fighting you'll experience. You'll make friends that will be with you for a very long time and form bonds that are much as with people out of the game. You'll make enemies, you'll encounter lag. You'll win and lose, learn things about the game you never knew could even exist. PvP IS ESO for me, PvE is very dreary after doing it a few times, PvP is dynamic and ever-changing. Give it a go.

You're not forced to pvp, but if you want to explore cyrodiil there will always be a risk that you get attacked by an enemy player. Best thing to do is just join a random group and follow. Pvp adds longevity to the game imo, for me it's the "end game". It's the only thing left to do everyday when everything else has been done.

Why bother to do PVP when ALL BEST GEARS... ONLY IN PVE...
And Cyrodiil zone now is dead... low activity, low population...
The only reason for you to Cyrodiil is for Skyshards...

No, best jewellery set in game can be bought from Guild stores with gold (which you earn only from PvE), Monster Helms and Shoulders drop from dungeons and doing Undaunted pledges, best armour sets are crafted.

Good news! besides the PvP skill lines you'll miss out on nothing. All gear is bind on equip (can be sold.)
There are quests and skyshards in Cyrodiil so its worth going to.
If you didn't like PvP in other games you should really give this one a try; It's different.
Not my cup of tea, but you may enjoy it.

Whilst I agree that a lot of good gear can be crafted imo the best jewelry sets(are we ever going to get jewelry crafting!?!)are from PVP designated areas........

Do you need to PVP to get them well not necessarily :)

Are you talking about the willpower/agility/endurance sets?

I was able to pick up the 3 piece willpower set for pretty cheap but yea I'd love jewelry crafting so I could make my own!

I keep forgetting IC counts as PvP...

I am serious about that, it feels like PvE, but then again I purposely choose the lowest populated campaigns and go to IC and get gear materials.

So technically (if you don't count purchasing them) the best jewelry is PvP only.

Outside of that, its PvE or crafting.

I personally love Cyrodiil, at times I just ride out to the villages, go into random buildings, chat with a few NPCs. Take pictures, then maybe kill a player or two.

I have been joining in the massive PvP, I just find it the least interactive playing. Not to bad mouth it, I just go to the front, press attacks till resources are gone, then back up to regen. Really simple for dps players.

Here is a pic from Cyrodiil:

To get BiS jewelry sets, you need to go into Imperial City and grind for mobs for trophies, risking PvP. However, these sets can also be bought in guild stores.

You're missing out all those skill points and skyshard if you don't play pvp. Some of their pvp abilities are useful in pve.

Make a new character and explore Blackwater Blade. It's the best of all campaigns. It's the only meaningful PvP experience in ESO.

The VR16 enchantment need to be acquired in the IC. So, for this, you need to pvp. Unless you are ok with VR15 gear.

PVP skill lines have some very nice skills and yes you need to PVP to unlock them.. Once you get over the horse simulator and extra dying PVP is fun. Give it a try awhile you may like it.
