Future of ESO / upcoming changes / My hopes and what I'd like to see

paromont3b16_ESO
In hopes of this actually being read and responded to, I've got some questions I'd like answered. I really want to like ESO, and I"m very confused about things I've read in the past(Or think I have) that may or may not have been true, the changes coming up, previously planned features that may or may not have been discarded, and other related topics.

First, I'm wondering about features on the roadmap released just after the launch of ESO. It has a few features that I, personally, can't imagine fitting well in an MMO environment, and things we, or I, have heard nothing about since the release of this roadmap. (http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2014/05/01/the-road-ahead---may-1st)

From the roadmap, can we still expect to see:
-Horse Racing
-Spellcrafting
-Awards for repeating dungeons(This confuses me a little. Maybe the pledges?)
-Seeing eachother in different phases
-Fishing improvements

Now aside from what I know you've discussed, I have questions relating to things I'm more unsure about.

There has been talk of features such as player housing, and justice system PVP. Are those still in the works, or are they scrapped?

I've also read that you want a high amount of events happening to participate in. I'm wondering if those events are like Dolmens spawning, or if it's something such as the darkmoon faire, and holiday events in something like WoW, and if that idea has been scrapped as well. I'd really like to go to a city and having it decorated for the seasons.

another concern is end-game PVE content. It seems as it is, either because the player base is relatively small, it's too hard, or because they just aren't worth doing, I don't see many people pugging for trials. There has also been a lack of trials for veteran 16, including with the release of orsinium. While new dungeons are nice, they are small and cleared quickly, leaving for little to do after clearing it unless you're just going to farm it for your sets. Which is okay, IF there's enough to learn and have fun with in them. But dungeons are not that way. They are 6-ish bosses, that can all be learned and done in a day.
Is the end-game PVE content planned to be trials? Is there something else you're planning in its place?

Now on to PVP content. Are there any major changes coming to cyrodiil? Can we expect a PVP justice system?
From my own exploration throughout Nirn in ESO, I have discovered a way into cyrodiil that was not meant to be. (Northern Malabal Tor's mountains) and I discovered parts of Cyrodiil not accessible normally. Particularly Skiingrad, some Ayleid ruins, and caves that are further west in Oblivion. Are those things scrapped plans from early development, in development, or a layout for future development? Maybe even something else altogether? If they do end up being added, will it be another instanced off portion of cyrodiil, or will we be able to access it as we can with everywhere else in Cyrodiil aside from the IC?

Leveling:
While leveling to 50 is relatively fast, veteran 16 is much. much slower, and a lot more tedious. You're forced to either quest in another factions zones, which I have to admit is very uninspired, each faction has a quest equivalent with each other faction, with the exception of a few gems forcing you to make hard decisions.(I.E choosing whether you want to help the father keep his son alive as an atronach, kill the son, or kill both) and even then that quest has an equivalent in another zone. I haven't experienced much of orsinium, but I imagine it's a bit more unique. Can we expect more zones like it in the near future? ; or you can level by PVP, which is longer and more tedious. You're outgeared, outskilled, and outexperienced by many other players, and will have a very hard time trying to put up a fight. While in a zerg group, the fun is gone. You'll die, feel like you aren't contributing, and get very little experience anyways, even with the recent-ish exp increases in PVP. Will we see more PVP-related quests? Maybe map-wide objectives that give large exp boosts, alliance point rewards, and maybe even a temporary power buff to the players involved?
Now still PVP and leveling related are the NPC daily questgivers throughout Cyrodiil. It's a very good way to get experience and level while still having fun with player versus player content. However, many people don't know that this exists, and is a good way to get exp. I would like to see more of these, and some non-repeatable, story-driven quests there as well. My question here, is will you put more of an emphasis on doing this? Give alliance point rewards for them. Encourage a sense of world PVP.

Things I'd like to see added:
-A world PVP system. (Justice, or more of an emphasis on cyrodiil leveling and questing)
-more trials
-holiday/seasonal events, and just events in general.
-More features for immersion. (Horse racing, Player housing, events that only happen at specific times, a day/night cycle closely related to real-time.)
-Chat channels such as Looking For Guild or Looking For Group

World PVP is a very interesting, exciting, and unpredictable way to play an MMO. Which is why I was disappointed coming into the Elder Scrolls Online, and finding out that it doesn't really exist. While it is possible to get a feeling of it, by questing throughout cyrodiil, it is not all that common, and when it does happen, you'll either be stuck waiting for the players you met to be done with questing in the area, or you won't experience it again for hours, until someone else happens to run by. World PVP from the justice system would be nice, but I can see it causing a fuss to those players who don't wish to be involved in PVP in anyway. That being said, if implemented with an opt-in/out system they would witness it, while not being forced to get involved.
And if it's cyrodiil focused, the opt-out option is to just not go to Cyrodiil. Those who wish to, would simply go quest, and continue their character progression like normal, with the exception being that they may run into other faction members, and have to fight over quest mobs, items, or even PVP objectives scattered around the world more than just keeps, forts and castles.

More trials is sort of self explanatory here. More large group, end game PVE content centered around co-operating, and learning together.

As stated before, I'd like to be able to see cities decorated, or mobs that drop toys, or tokens for season cosmetic items, or even quests related around the event. While those would all be nice, events focused on upcoming DLC would be great too. With the release of the Imperial City, was it not a thought to have a quest-line that would act not only as a catch up system. but give current veteran 14s the opportunity to progress towards 16, while opening their access to the city? Players could have been forming groups to complete the quests to open their sewers while fighting the opposite faction to get in.

One thing thats always felt great about playing a game like WoW is when it's night time where I live, it's darker in the game. It helps me feel more immersed in it. It feels like its an actual world in the game. The Elder Scrolls is lacking there. While it does have a day/night cycle its on like 30 minute rotations, and doing that honestly makes it feel less immersive than a 100% night time zone, and a 100% day time zone.

While the ending of this long-ass post might have been a little off the topic of wanting to know the plans for the game, I hope Zenimax takes the time to read this, and answers some of my questions, and has replies to my concerns about the future somehow.

I just want the following fixed lag, lag, and more lag.

Im currently on my first play through and agree have to agree with the views on levelling, im currently VR6 and it is utterly tedious, it far far to slow, the quest rewards are non exisitant and m now repeating some of the content i saw with other characters i made but never finished.

The scary thing is that there was a recent reduction in VR xp required, im not sure how anyone managed to stayed motivated to get to the level cap under the old xp system.

I to desperatly want to like this game, but with the low population count and the expectation that i will repeat zones to gain XP and make the level cap makes its hard to stay enthused about the game. (did the devs not expect people to try different characters and zones out before settling one one or two characters to level).

and yes the lag, lag and more lag dont make the combat fun!

    1. VR is going when they convert it to the CP progression.
    2. CP will be account-wide, so there is only the need to level your char to max gear on one char, as all the other alts will be this level after they hit 50.
    3. Your day/night proposal is interesting, but as there are events that run off day/night cycles (Vamp/WW wild spawning for example) and a lot of people only have specific times they can play, this wouldn't translate as well. At least with the current times everyone has a chance of having the day/night during their normal playtime.

Note: As a side post on the levelling, I managed to get to VR15 and a half just by going through all the zones and completing all the Cadwells quests. I then finished the last 1/2 a VR by doing the Orsinium questline. If you like PvP, then there are certain campaigns that have a lot more people on them but you also have to be on at the proper times otherwise they're all graveyards.
I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

Yeah you can get to max VR by going through all the zones, sure. But once you complete all the , say, aldmeri zones, and move on to EP zones, you're doing the exact same quests with differently named characters of a different race. The stories, and choices you make in the quests are the same as the AD equivalent.

Um, no they really aren't! Yes all the main-game quests are kinda bland and procedural, but they are still quite different. I enjoyed the questlines of all 3 alliances (AD less so for Lore/RP reasons), and they really have made the quests reflect the different races.
