PC doesn't have voice chat and only text chat unless they use a third party option. The same applies to consoles, there is a third party text chat available
I'd not say it's unfair but just different designs based on native hardware. My sig has the website where you can text chat. ESO lfg

It works for us, quite well in fact, and switching back and forth to check messages really isn't that difficult, double tapping the ps button instantly switches back to the last app used. I contribute a lot of our success as a guild to this and in many ways it has allowed us to become closer over the last several months. With the PS app we are able to communicate even when we're not online, which is great. So considering all of this I have to wonder, if they ever do add text chat to consoles, would my guild even use it? Something to think about.
Because you would be able to interact with other players/groups in-game. Additionally, you could view messages in real-time while doing other things so you could know that a flank is approaching while fighting another group, which is impossible to read using your currrent system unless you plan on leaving yourself competely vulnerable while you do read it.
I'm glad you have fond a workaround for the current lack of text chat but please do not try to pretend that it somehow resolves the issue for everyone, let alone yourself.

I never said that it did did I? I just wonder if I will ever use it, because of our workaround. I'm not a pvper. I hate pvp. So I certainly don't need it for that.

You know as well as anyone that third-party options are extremely limited on consoles, not to mention that voice can operate in the background whereas text needs to be integrated to be of any real use. Can any third-party text application on consoles handle hundreds of players at once because that is really what an MMO requires. Voice chat never really needs to exceed 12 since once you have more the conversations start to become incomprehesible. It's an apples to oranges type of comparison as each performs a very different role.

I hardly ever do pugs. With an awesome guild such as mine behind my back I hardly ever feel the need to get a pug. Or use the group finder for that matter. I often get pm'ed questions on psn while running around vulkhel guard or what not anyway, and i'm always happy to answer them, and even offer them a guild to join with lots of friendly people always ready to answer questions or give a helping hand.
If I ever do get a pug, I can use voice chat to answer questions as well. I'm a friendly guy, if someone needs help, they only need ask.

Neither of these are in the Group Finder Tool. Both of these require groups. As we don't have text chat, how does ZOS expect console players to get these done?
Why release content like this without any tool whatsoever to help complete this content???
DRXHarbinger wrote: »No console players grouping without chat. Nothing worse than trying to communicate in a hard dungeon and being ignored or can't hear calls for help. Just the console nature and they know it. I for one will not group up if they cannot speak. Sometimes play with some french guys who speak no engrish at all but still the message gets across. Waiting on text isn't something anyone wants to do when the going gets tough.
It's not about communicating with players in the dungeon. Voice is clearly better for that in most cases. It's about a smoother experience looking for players to run dungeons with. Text chat allows for better mass communication, and solves issues that voice simply cannot.
