For pvp, what's your opinion on the no cooldown MMO gameplay?

I've enjoyed other games that revolved around managing both resources and cool downs. It's fun and makes you think about your rotations too, eso accomplishes the same imo just in a different way.

    It's lame!
It could perhaps somewhat work if resources were limited. As it is, it implies macro-driven spam of invisible skills.
Anyway, there are some cooldowns and penalty for spamming bolt escape or dodging is sort of soft cooldown.

    It's rad!
It's "rad" but cooldowns are sneaking into the game. Infinite resources thanks to the crapion system is causing it. When you get a penalty for using a skill more than once in x seconds, thats a hidden cooldown. We didn't need those back when we had softcaps.

Thanks to this poll, I see that this is an unpopular opinion.

However, after quitting the game, playing a bunch of other competitive games, then coming back... I am 100% certain the lack of cooldown management is the reason combat in ESO feels unsatisfying.

IMO, cooldowns were originally in place because of network limitations, the same as no hit box mmos etc...

With the constant increase in computing power etc... cooldowns are a thing of the past. And good riddance to them.
It takes a lot more skill to choose what to do when depending on the environment and your opponent. Than choosing to queue skills in order of l33tness because you can only do em every 30secs etc... and how does a cooldown translate into immersion anyway???

I assure you network limitations are painfully real in Cyrodiil, while ever increasing computing power failed to present itself. Probably too busy being talked about.

DAOC had no cooldowns on the majority of its abilities; Whenever it added a cooldown it was usually to very powerful abilities like IP or Purge. Basically instead of having just one Ultimate, you'd have like 10 heheh

Combat is great. Animation cancelling to proc another ability is realistic.

HAVING THE CANCELLED SKILL STILL COMPLETE AND DO DAMAGE IS ****** STOOPID. Said it before, say it again:

Gonna animation cancel my subscription. It wont charge me, but i'll still get esoplus membership......

That is not how it works however. Look at guys over on consoles, they are being charged and get nothing.

The only reason i voted like i did is because of the animation canceling crap that is going on around here. There is no skill in pvp in ESO, there is only cancel skill, simple as that! - you can quote me on this

I don't care about MMOs and what they do. I just know that I don't want to see cooldowns added to ESO.

I do think animation cancelling is stupid though. If they want combat to be responsive, have shorter animations. Cancelling an animation should cancel an attack.

While cooldown combat doesn't mean WoW combat.... I absolutely do not support adding cooldowns to ESO. I'm not a fan of it, but the no cooldown combat is foundational to the game.

However, they have to find a way to make the best of the system they're working with. The current spam fest is not making the best of it.

the problem isn't animation cancelling. That actually adds some element of thought to combat. The problem is no coolodowns AND basically no resource management. A spam fest. This is not fun combat.
