Religious Demographics Poll (Done Correctly This Time)

Here is a proper version of the Religious Demographics Poll which should be more reflective of religious preferences in the roleplaying community. I'm not putting an option for atheism as the only representation of irreligion in Elder Scrolls are people who have stopped worshiping the gods they grew up with but still recognise them, and the Dwemer, who believed that the Daedra were active and the Aedra were dead and useless (which we see is false in the events of Oblivion). Dwemer faith therefore would fall under Assorted Daedra as those were the only dieties they recognised.

That'd be hard to do since our characters regularly meet daedric lords. Unless you RP some kind of civilian.
I guess you could go with the angle of rejecting that any of these creatures are gods at all, but just powerful... things.

    Heh, the 'Three Good Daedra'

(cz suuuuuure they are so 'good') Mini breakdown:

-The prince of deceit, conspiracy, secret plots of murder, assassination, treason, and unlawful overthrow of authority.
-The prince of vanity and egotism.
-The prince of murder, sex, and secrets.

Yup, all good. I'll go with them :D

Kidding aside, close second would be the Khajiit's Ahnurr and Fadomai

Technically, Akatosh can't do crap to Daedra. None of the divines can directly. *technically*
But TES lore -does- have a tendancy to contradict itself.

Like Secunda follows Masser, Sithis follows the Night Mother. Her husband pursues, but she seldom pauses, leaving him eternally in shadow.

Sithis has many names, and many parents … or none at all. But his Fangs … the Fangs of Sithis still bite. They take particular pleasure in envenoming the weak-minded, the foolish, the greedy, or the headstrong, but the Fangs can destroy the powerful and the wise as well.

Beware those born under the Shadow, and all those who seek to use its power. The downfall of our ancestors is tied to the Fangs of Sithis, and our scales remain darkened by his touch.

Whoa whoa, the Dwemer did not worship the Deadra in anyway. The believed in knowledge and science. Kagrenac sought to make a mechanical god, the Numidium. This is in part why they warred with the pious Chimmer.

It really depends on what character I'm currently roleplaying.

My main Altmer is an exile from The Summerset Isles a bit of a devil-may-care rebel who just wasn't up for marrying himself off for the sake of his family's heritage.

Despite his fickleness,he still believes in The Divines even if he does so quietly (or loudly if he's cursing.)

If -I- personally had to choose one, It would have to be my main gal Meridia.

I guess you could go with the angle of rejecting that any of these creatures are gods at all, but just powerful... things.

The Dwemer didnt necessarily believe in the gods either. They knew they existed but they didnt pray to them or revere them.

Theres also the issue of how representative of Tamriel is ESO or any of the Elder Scrolls games. The size of the provinces, the size of populations and how often these 'gods' appear to the common Man/Mer/Beast People.

I mean you could argue that all the characters youve ever played in the ES games would be the equivalent of a mythical or legendary character from any tale or poem from RL ancient times. In those tales and poems the gods revealed themselves to these particular characters. In ES they choose to reveal themselves to us because of our legendary status. The average person may hear rumblings and rumors of Daedra and Aedra having direct influence and many devote followers probably believe it if it was true or not. But the vast majority of Tamriels citizens? Theyve never seen anything close to a Dremora let alone a Daedra or Aedra and simply believe because thats what their religion tells them.

Aside from the fact that I think its silly in an MMO that the primary story makes you THE Vestige. I never create characters that ARE the primary character in the game. Theyre above average individuals worthy of note and story telling. But they arent whatever the game is telling you they are. They arent the Dragonborn, the Vestige, the Jedi Knight/Consular etc.
