Game would be 100x better if...

kre8or333
kre8or333
Soul Shriven
I actually liked playing this for a bit. I was in the Beta test, and got the game on release (with all it's glitchyness)
I don't play anymore because...
1) Action bars are too limiting - 5 buttons (excluding the Ultimate button) is not enough for a game with the depth of abilities that ESO has - please ADD 2 more ability buttons on each action bar. With the expectation that you can play how you want, the lack of ability buttons doesn't truly allow that and adding 2 to each bar would better implement this idea.
2) Building a pure crafter is almost impossible - I'm an altoholic, and I want my characters to have the best gear I can make. Unfortunately, in order to put points into crafting you have to hunt/quest, therefore you have to put points into fighting abilities to quest and level up just to get points to put in crafting. Not only do restrictions come for the character side, but also the material side. If you want a full crafter you need materials. Unfortunately, your bag and bank space is so limited that you can't possibly hold the materials for a pure crafter. At this point is where I quit playing, in order to hold the materials I needed, I had to make 7 or 8 alts to hold materials, which wasn't that bad until you get to many materials, AND have to start switching between multiple alts to get the right materials. The loading screen time it takes to switch is overwhelming. So, increase the material stack number so they don't take up as much bank space, easy fix. Most MMOs out now have 200 -999 stackable.
3) This one might be harder to implement, but would be awesome. Make a grab mechanic for, at least, PvE combat. Imagine a tank charges and stuns an enemy, grabs and punches, kicks, or throws the enemy and then continues combat actions. Or for Assissin types, pops out of invisibility, grabs an enemy, stabs him a couple of times, then kicks him away to continue combat. Games like Gears of War and Blade and Soul as well as many others have this, and it just gives a Massive kool factor to the combat and in a game like ESO would look and feel amazing.
--- I'm not a game designer, so these are just my humble opinions. But, if these 3-4 things were implemented I'd not only come back to this game, there'd be nothing like it in the gaming world, and I'd probably play for years, way more than Destiny, that hulking pile trash.

    1. Game is designed around maximum profit
    2. To maximize profit game is designed with console in mind
    3. Market wants to go to console so controls are configured for controllers,
    4. To maximize console market they create PC transfers
    5. If you need more bank space, again a design for console, you can create your own guild with xbox accounts giving one character an additional 500 bank spaces.
    6. Your combo design of grab etc could not be implemented in this game's mechanics. I can't even start on how to explain all the reasons why. Even the idea of a channel like move wont work

Hope you do come back tho :)

Why does every one think you need a character only for crafting? I have all my crafting maxed out and pointed and all the combat skills I use and some skills I thought about using but don't so wasted points there and still have 12 points left over on 1 character who is also my only character.

It's not impossible to have crafted maxed out and pointed on 1 character you just need to put effort into via sky shards, quest, few ranks in pvp ( I'm rank 15 i think so don't even say no life pvper).

You forgot, the game would be 100x better "for me" in your title :)

This mmo is different from other mmos either you like it or you don't. If you don't there are countless other mmos out there and I don't see any reason for you to play this one if the other ones are 100x better.

it's a matter of taste. I won't even begin about what would happen to this game's balance of you add 2 skill slots lol.

Personally i like the fact that you only have 5 skills on a bar and an ultimate,

As far as crafting is concerned there is nothing wrong with the current way..

I have 2 chars that do all my crafting,

I do like the idea of making stacks in my bank bigger,....

    In regards to point (2)

I can do all crafting between two characters, the secret is to not go straight into crafting everything in game whilst levelling, and then once you are leveled only keep minimal materials, not 200 stacks of every resource for everything between 1-50-V16. I split my skills as follows, for good reasons

    woodwork/blacksmith/potions
    clothing/enchanting/provisioning

provisioning and potions require least skill points and level up the quickest, wood working levels next quickest and enchanting levels slowest, provisioning has the largest pool of materials and requires the most bank spaces so best use guild banks for this whilst levelling. metal working and clothing take the most researches. based on this i split my crafting as above. and only focus on clothing, woodworking and black smithing. Potions, enchants, and food from vendors is perfectly good enough till you reach end game at which point you will have enough skill points to work on other crafts. and you will have A LOT of money for bank and bag space.

    To minimise bank space:
    enchanting:
only keep aspect runes that are green or better, after a time this will drop to blue and better, only keep your level potency runes until v16 where you keep 9's and 10's for writs, if really tight on bank space only save essence runes that you cant get from vendors (buying vendor runes at rank 1-10 and breaking down gives cheap basic essence runes, only then need to hold on to disease poisons shield power essence runes etc
    clothing/blacksmithing/woodwork:
keep refined items for your level and the one below, store raw materials on character
    Potions:
just stock ingredients for the potions you may want to use for a magicka user this may only be 6 ingredients: columbine, mountain flower, water hyacinth, cornflower, ladysmock, wormwood (using ladysmock instead of bugloss for the tristat, its a smaller heal but still good tristat)

    common useful potions:
    • magic/health/stam "tri-stat": columbine, bugloss, mountain flower
    • spell damage/crit/mag regen: cornflower, water hyacinth, lady smock
    • weapon damage/crit/stam regen: dragonthorn, blessed thistle, wormwood
    • magic/detect/unstoppable: columbine, cornflower,wormwood
    optional:
    • unstoppable/health/stam: Namira's Rot, columbine, mountain flower
    Provisioning:
you need a lot of mats for levelling this effectively, i find malab tor best for farming mats. once you do level it though you can massively cut down your inventory. First of all if you decide you wont ever be using drinks or vice versa, then you can cut the inventory in half. After this you can only stock what you use for your blue and purple recipies of appropriate level, and you will likely find you only need to keep a dozen ingredients in the bank. Though guild banks is the best for the spares unless you dont midn selling them for a quick buck.

Any alts can harvest/keep materials for themselves isntead of stockpiling in the bank.
eg if I'm a mage using starves at level 37, spider silk and hickory is all i need. i can get the ebon thread and yew as i see it in preperation, and i keep the raw materials until i have stacks large enough to craft new gear, 4 slots on character only. and not in the bank.

You can now BUY bank, inventory and mount space upgrades in the Crown Store. Also keep in mind that some crafting stations are located in areas that are difficult to get to because of nearby enemies OR are only accessed through completion of quests- so if those are the crafted sets you want, then you obviously have to have your crafter battle-ready.

Right now my crafter is only level 22, but has access to all of the higher level crafting stations I use. I typically use the gold acquired from questing on my current leveling character to fund the purchase of materials for my crafter to make new crafted sets. I'm not one of those self-sufficient types who thinks they have to make everything themselves... gold comes easily in ESO, so I prefer to buy what I cannot make versus spending time grinding for mats and worrying about inventory space.

Why do people need a crafter?

My Dk has skill points to tank, dps, enchant, woodworking, clothing, provisioning and blacksmithing. Only thing I did seperate is alchemy on my sorc.

The amount of abilities works. It creates hard decisions. If we had more slots, most people would end up running the exact same bars.

I can't agree with any of these.

    1. "Not enough skill slots."
The game restricts you to skills you find most useful for your playstyle. Other players would only use those additional slots for togglable abilities and continue to play in their regular rotation. Not only, but technically you have 10 action slots with 2 ults, which is a standard for MMO's. Don't confuse this game with SWOTOR or WoW.

    2. "Crafting's impossible... single tear."
Building a crafter is simple. Research everything you can, spend your perk points wisely, and you'll have plenty of perks if you quest and grab skyshards. My v16 templar has plenty of combat prowess, is my primary crafter, holds tons of mats, has skill points in pretty much every crafting tree, and I still have over 40 unspent skill points. Better yet, I haven't even gotten all the skyshards in game and my alliance rank is only legionary.
Materials are a bit of an issue until you join a guild with a guild bank. I actually am not a fan of the fact that extra personal bank space is so expensive for no reason, but I've found alternative solutions to storing my materials that I need. Also, if you have 6 or 7 different characters loaded with crafting materials, that's just plain hoarding. You should probably clear out the junk you'll never use.

    3. "Prison shank / grab mechanic."
I don't even know where to start with this. Even for PvE, this is game breaking on so many levels that it hurts. There are enough CC's and root mechanics that are already broken, and adding an actual "grab" action wouldn't fit the meta of this combat system. Plus, just having a mechanic for PvE that won't be implemented in PvP is begging for too many problems and game balancing issues. Leave the Assassin's Creed mechanics out of this game.

No one cares, they can't advertise this stuff and there's nothing wrong with those factors right now. They're adding player housing, which is nice, and will hopefully add more forms of pvp/fix cyrodiil performance.
