It's not necessarily too hard, because there's so much difference in difficulty depending on which class you play. It is really really hard on a stam DK compared to a magicka Sorcerer.
I've tried it on my stam DK, just can't get past the 5th bossround. It's ridiculous. I quit after 30 times or so, even though previous stages didn't take that long.
@Alcast I saw your vid on this stage, you make it look so easy haha.
I'll try soon again, but man, it's so frustrating since it's my only V16 character that I've been playing since launch haha.
It needs fixing and in needs very precise pinpoint adjustments to some mechanics that do not fit the realities of how the game works.
it also needs at least an extra difficulty setting between very easy and Stupid.
What it will get is an uninspired blanket nerf that will suck out any fun out of it. This is the ZOS way.

It will make all the tellie-tubbie / elite / self-too-superior-to-associate-with-us-lower-type-folks players very, very, extremely happy. AND.... It will make the rest of us casual players happy as well.
Once a player complete's Maelstrom Arena on Veteran level, promote / reward them to an isolated instance of the game so they no longer have to interact with the non-elite players.
I'll nickname the server instance Sovngarde
This isolated instance of the game would also have ALL monster difficulties set to the same nightmare level as vet Maelstrom Arena.
For example, a "Mob" of Mud crabs with over 1 million health points, which of course would be no problem for these elite players. (we have all seen their posted videos of their prowess)
Also, change these elite player's account status to prevent their account / linked accounts from logging in to the general population servers.
Elite players will no longer be annoyed by the rest of us inadequate-to-complete-Maelstrom-Arena players.
No more elite farming the casual players that have not "l2p".
As the players increase their gaming skill level, they too will go to the elite server.
Problem solved.
I don't mean to cause further debate, just a simple question.
I didnt have much time online last night so did Maelstrom on normal which was my first time, i followed no guides, only died twice and finished it in 1 hour 26mins, I know when I do it again after work ill be able to nail it in an hour.
So my question is what changes in the Veteran version, more interested in mechanics, i understand the damage and health boosts which normally apply to vet content.
Thanks in advance

Pretty simple, normal=very easy mode, vet=elite mode
In vet mode mobs will hit much harder, aoe does more damage, mechanics are faster like the blades in Seth's Balcony who moves faster then in normal mode.
It is doable, did it now on 2 Stam chars (I think I am still the only dude that actually completed it with stam) and it is ffreaking hard, no idea how even an "good" player can beat that stuff lol
If its too hard, grind up a Magicka Sorc and then easy mode.
Fengrush beat it on his stam sorc last night and Sneaky Habanero on his Stam DK, both excellent players.

this is comign from someone who's getting his ass kicked by the vet arena....
DO NOT [SNIP] NERF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY CHALLENGING SOLO CONTENT IN THE GAME!!!! GIT GOOD!!!
[Moderator Note: Edited per our rules on Cursing & Profanity]
Yeah, but the challenge isn't balanced in anyway, that's what most people are unhappy about.
Play magicka sorc and it's VR mode.
Play magicka NB and it's challenge mode.
Play stamina templar and it's nightmare/ragequit mode.
It needs to be more mele friendly mostly. But also less shield and burst dependant. The way it favours max ranged, shields and mobility, is just stupid.
There's hopefully changes that can be done to balance this, without nerfing content to the ground.

Are you Vet 16 with golden sets and in the range 400-500 CP?

What do people do when they get all the gear they've been grinding for?
You found/created v16 gold gear... got the mal weapons you wanted....all of it.
You have to beat the hardest content in the game... sometimes it seems like 100 times over to get the item(s) you want.
So... you've done this.... now what? There's no more content to enjoy where you get to use your new items. Unless you count going back and re-doing the same things again exciting?
I guess i think of it in the other direction... it would be more fun (for me) to be able to get the gear (not sure how... just throwing an idea out there)... THEN use that gear in the hardest content available for some kind of unique rewards (titles, skins, mounts, pets, gold/AP/TV Stone, etc.) and/or leader board status.
You guys should be more precise on what u want, spammable shield or heals from crit or mobility of a sorc. And don't forget that we (sorcs) sacrifying other valuable things like hardy, elemental defense etc while putting 100 in bastion. So STOP CRYING IN EVERY TOPIC ABOUT HOW IMBALANCED SORCERER IS ...

Im a Vet 16 with Purples and I dont remember exact CP but somewhere around 250. I play for 4-6 hours a day due to work and life, but I still hate nerfs, kinda wish people would just keep trying instead of dying and giving up.

I share your attitude towards such a challenge as Maelstrom.
I posed the question to OP because he just shouted: "nerf"
If he would be a Vet 16 with purple gear and 100 CP, a tank with dual S&B equiped.....
I would at least understand where he is coming from
but still not enough reason to nerf it IMO.

Agreed, I used a Stamina Templar vr16 with purples and ~250 CP's and didn't use a guide so i went in there fresh. I actually really enjoyed each arena, I got to arena 7 before dying once (I didn't realise i had to bash the argonian behemoth lol), but after 2 tries I figured it out. And that is what i wish people would do more often, thats kinda how the Scrolls games have always been, its fun to explore and learn.
When playing Morrowind, the hardest part of that game was staying on track with a quest, because whilst on your way........."Oooo I wonder whats in this cave"

VMA is correct as it is. PLZ @ZOS DONT NERF IT.
