It doesnt even need nerfing, it just needs bugsfixing.

It needs fixing and in needs very precise pinpoint adjustments to some mechanics that do not fit the realities of how the game works.

it also needs at least an extra difficulty setting between very easy and Stupid.

What it will get is an uninspired blanket nerf that will suck out any fun out of it. This is the ZOS way.

It's not necessarily too hard, because there's so much difference in difficulty depending on which class you play. It is really really hard on a stam DK compared to a magicka Sorcerer.

I've tried it on my stam DK, just can't get past the 5th bossround. It's ridiculous. I quit after 30 times or so, even though previous stages didn't take that long.

@Alcast I saw your vid on this stage, you make it look so easy haha.

I'll try soon again, but man, it's so frustrating since it's my only V16 character that I've been playing since launch haha.

ZOS can try to fix the arena as long as they want, they will NEVER even remotely make it "balanced" for stamina vs magicka....

I am about to quit the game because its just dumb how stupid the game is atm and ZOS does not even bother saying that they are "working" on a fix for buges....

That's the same as in some pledges... The Banished Cells, for example... Solid tactics can be used on the NORMAL pledge... But go Veteran, and you need to use tactics like stacking-up around the corner and hoping your healer can spam enough mass-heals to keep you up 'til you chop down the boss... What in the actual heck??[/quote]

What is this? If you struggle with Banished Cells no wonder. Healer does the normal job. You all mob the adds ASAP then get back on the boss, next daedroth you all mob it again. When bosses health is down to near 0 you just run circles and wait for 3 daedroth to come out only killing the feasts. On the 3rd spawn you mob Rillis and boom done.

I just figured out an ideal solution, and before my first cup of coffee.
It will make all the tellie-tubbie / elite / self-too-superior-to-associate-with-us-lower-type-folks players very, very, extremely happy. AND.... It will make the rest of us casual players happy as well.

Once a player complete's Maelstrom Arena on Veteran level, promote / reward them to an isolated instance of the game so they no longer have to interact with the non-elite players.
I'll nickname the server instance Sovngarde
This isolated instance of the game would also have ALL monster difficulties set to the same nightmare level as vet Maelstrom Arena.
For example, a "Mob" of Mud crabs with over 1 million health points, which of course would be no problem for these elite players. (we have all seen their posted videos of their prowess)

Also, change these elite player's account status to prevent their account / linked accounts from logging in to the general population servers.

Elite players will no longer be annoyed by the rest of us inadequate-to-complete-Maelstrom-Arena players.
No more elite farming the casual players that have not "l2p".
As the players increase their gaming skill level, they too will go to the elite server.

    Problem solved.

May I add. Let's give those elite players separate forum, so they don't need to interact with us pesky commoners!

I don't mean to cause further debate, just a simple question.

I didnt have much time online last night so did Maelstrom on normal which was my first time, i followed no guides, only died twice and finished it in 1 hour 26mins, I know when I do it again after work ill be able to nail it in an hour.

So my question is what changes in the Veteran version, more interested in mechanics, i understand the damage and health boosts which normally apply to vet content.

    Thanks in advance

Pretty simple, normal=very easy mode, vet=elite mode

In vet mode mobs will hit much harder, aoe does more damage, mechanics are faster like the blades in Seth's Balcony who moves faster then in normal mode.

I understand damage increasing, but some of the arenas are quite easy (1-6), i just wanted to know any mechanic changes like the faster moving blades you mentioned.

I plan on doing it tonight on veteran so any tips are welcomed, i still dont expect it to take longer than 5 hours (hopefully xD)

It is doable, did it now on 2 Stam chars (I think I am still the only dude that actually completed it with stam) and it is ffreaking hard, no idea how even an "good" player can beat that stuff lol

If its too hard, grind up a Magicka Sorc and then easy mode.

Fengrush beat it on his stam sorc last night and Sneaky Habanero on his Stam DK, both excellent players.

Also I hope they don't nerf it, it cannot be impossible, and so you've just got to keep trying and learning, like with every other instance and dungeon.

I only get to play a few hours a day after work, and I enjoy a challenge, I don't want to come home to play a game that's been nerfed so much there is no brain required at all. There are so many gear, weapon, food and stat possibilities that if you keep failing, you could change.

Besides, Normal mode is made to learn and Veteran is to test yourself, if they nerf it now, when you learn to overcome it you will hate how easy and boring it is.

DO NOT [SNIP] NERF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY CHALLENGING SOLO CONTENT IN THE GAME!!!! GIT GOOD!!!

[Moderator Note: Edited per our rules on Cursing & Profanity]

Yeah, but the challenge isn't balanced in anyway, that's what most people are unhappy about.

Play magicka sorc and it's VR mode.

Play magicka NB and it's challenge mode.

Play stamina templar and it's nightmare/ragequit mode.

It needs to be more mele friendly mostly. But also less shield and burst dependant. The way it favours max ranged, shields and mobility, is just stupid.

There's hopefully changes that can be done to balance this, without nerfing content to the ground.

i agree with you on that. atm being a magicka sorc or nb makes it a cakewalk while for stamblade its a nightmare. idk about templar or dk cause i dont play them but im guessing its pretty similar for them. but that comes down to class balance. shield stacking by magicka dps classes to be tanky without losing dps. its broken in pvp and now it shows also in PVE. fix shieldstacking!

and make arena more melee friendly, dont do it be changing the intended difficulty but do it by changing the mechanics.

I was watching deltia's guide for the 2nd fight after wiping for the 234234 time. not only does it seem much easier as a ranged class. he could just tank the serated blades with his shields like it was nothing. my stamblade would have died 50 times if i did it the same way he did it in his guide XD

No need for nerf... I haven't completed it yet, but I'm on the 5 arena and got there with no problems. I don't have time to play for hours on end. I only have 254 CP and yes, it's challenging, but that's what makes it fun.

Admittedly on magicka Sorc I find it fairly easy and don't want it nerfed. I appreciate Stamblades and Stamplars are having probably the worst of it due to lack of burst healing to match the burst damage you received.

I haven't tried it on my magicka DK yet but I've got a feeling that would be fairly easy too with the right setup. 5th, 6th, 7th rounds.. they are the hardest ones for my Sorc because there is so much ranged damage from archers and wraiths and I keep thinking "oh, only If I had scales"

But yeah I feel the pain of the stamina builds. It's this mess ZOS got themselves into. Stambuilds are very good in PvP because the CP passives help them hit a lot harder than magicka and also they exhibit decent survivability. In this Solo PvE content they don't hit harder than magicka builds because NPCs don't have CPs and they have less survivability than magicka builds.

Thus if they buff stam build survivability they will be level with magicka on PvE but vastly superior in PvP. If they leave it as it is, it's balanced more around magicka builds than stamina builds. It's a tough spot they are in

To be fair, while this bug is very frustrating and needs fixing, those plants should be your #1 priority when they spawn.

I normally stand on one island facing the other 2 so I can keep an eye on them spawning. They usually pull you 5-6" after they have spawned and they are a dead easy to kill since they only have like 40k HP. So you have plenty of time to kite them down or gap close and burst them before they pull you.

There is not enough CC in that arena that would make this a problem imo. You always have time to kill the plants. There's plenty of mechanics on later arenas that if you don't react quick enough to NPC spawns they put huge AOE damage to the room and pretty much insta kill you. So if you are having problems killing those plants before they pull you, and I' mean no offence by this, but you will really struggle later on. You just need to practice a bit more on them in my opinion.

TIP: If you don't have time burst them, you can spend 1 GCD to disable them. Rune cage, petrify, agony...not sure about eclipse. You can postpone having to kill them for 15" while dealing with more urgent issues.

I'm just curious....not knocking the difficulty or anyone who likes it this way... just 100% honest question.

What do people do when they get all the gear they've been grinding for?
You found/created v16 gold gear... got the mal weapons you wanted....all of it.
You have to beat the hardest content in the game... sometimes it seems like 100 times over to get the item(s) you want.

So... you've done this.... now what? There's no more content to enjoy where you get to use your new items. Unless you count going back and re-doing the same things again exciting?

I guess i think of it in the other direction... it would be more fun (for me) to be able to get the gear (not sure how... just throwing an idea out there)... THEN use that gear in the hardest content available for some kind of unique rewards (titles, skins, mounts, pets, gold/AP/TV Stone, etc.) and/or leader board status.

2 vMSA clears last night. First piece of loot was a Well-fitted Jerking on Succession. Second piece was an Arcane ring of the Hunt.

Out of the 5 Maelstrom weapons I've received to date, only one was itemized correctly (A precise dagger). I don't have a single perfectly traited complete set yet despite clearing this place ~25 times now. Let's assume that I get everything I want in the next 75 runs or so (statistically unlikely), I'd probably keep running it at a reduced pace for the competitive aspect to try to get to the #1 position.

My primary desire for the gear is for PvP purposes. There are a few sets I'd like to complete along with having a perfectly traited weapon of each type to try various builds out on.

Agreed, I used a Stamina Templar vr16 with purples and ~250 CP's and didn't use a guide so i went in there fresh. I actually really enjoyed each arena, I got to arena 7 before dying once (I didn't realise i had to bash the argonian behemoth lol), but after 2 tries I figured it out. And that is what i wish people would do more often, thats kinda how the Scrolls games have always been, its fun to explore and learn.
