Returning Player - VERY very slow download

Decided to come back to the game today but am being enormously put off by installation problems with launcher only reaching 13% after 3 hours. I'm getting a max download speed of 1.52Mb/s. I've played with the max download speeds in the launcher settings and none of them make a difference.
Just so you know, I've followed all the usual advice about firewalls etc. I've also downloaded 3 other mmos in the last two weeks, all without a problem.
Any advice? My enthusiasm/interest in playing again is on the wane.

✭✭✭✭✭I usually get between 2 and 3 Meg download speeds. If it is over 1 Meg, I usually leave it alone. If it is below 1 Meg, I pause for a while (couple of minutes) then resume, watch for a bit, repeat as necessary. The game downloads a massive amount of data (double digit gig) when installing, and it took me a lot more than three hours to download it when I installed it.XBox EU/NA:@ElsonsoJannus

Seravi✭✭✭✭✭I did a fresh install on my new PC a couple of months ago and the entire game took around 3 hours total to download and install. Not sure if the launcher still has the speed bug or not. An old bug that kept speeds really slow was if you had the launcher set on unlimited. You had to set a speed on the launcher to work around the bug. Maybe the old bug is back not sure. Check to see what you have the download speed set at on the launcher. Can't hurt to change it if you are set at unlimited to see if it helps.1 -
Dear✭✭✭It took me over a year of attempting to patch whenever I had the free time and patches continually failing and freezing (and me giving up over and over and over) before I finally sat down last week, turned off every other internet sucking device in the house, turned off every other program on my computer, and let the game patch. It took 12 hours. I am not even exagerating. I had to keep shoving the mouse to keep my comp from going to sleep so there wouldn't be any issues. I just read and drew in the meantime. But. Seriously. It was hell.
BUT! Now I am able to play! It's so fun! And ESO is free to play now!? Win win.

I had no idea about this, I've always had "Unlimited" selected. Thank you for the tip, well worth trying!
Btw, I've seen a couple of threads about slow DL speeds lately, and I myself have gone from about 15 MB/s to 3-5 MB/s at best. I wonder if there's anything Zos can look into with their DL provider/distributor? I mean, it is at times seriously impacting the overall experience of their paying customers, it's still Buy to Play (rather than Free to Play).

I was also unaware of the Unlimited setting, and I have been around for a long time.
I never get more than 3.x MB/s download speeds since that is close to the cap of my 30 Mb/s cable provider.XBox EU/NA:@ElsonsoJannus

Seravi✭✭✭✭✭Yeah that bug was out not too long after launch. Took a while for them to find it but CS even posted on the forums to change your speed to at least 5 and not use unlimited. I have mine at 10Mbps from that time and set it at that with the new download and never changed it back to unlimited. I get more than the set speed so it really isn't limiting my download.
Not saying its the problem or the bug is back but changing it is worth a try.
