Honestly I feel like this attitude is what makes this game's PvP poor. If you want to share builds/ideas do so (I respect those who do because essentially they help make the game more fun for others). If you don't want to share there's no need to make snooty-sounding statements suggesting you are somehow above the folks who are interested. Anyone who says stuff like "scrubs who copy builds, etc." brings the game down.

My personal thing is the opposite, I'd hate to see the self-appointed elite blocking content because someone does not have their official build of the month.
Hi, sorry if I read your post wrong. The "if you have a reason to know I will answer" part was what bothered me. Also I am mainly talking PvP, but if you aren't please just ignore me. :-)
It was different during 2014, but at this point in the game I really don't consider too many people "elite." With the exception of folks at max CPs (since CPs are the only constant point of reference in the game). You may disagree, that's fine. I don't really see folks I consider "elite" blocking content..
There is some truth to that - the checking of people's builds and so on was a lot more common in the early days of trials, Dragonstar and vet dungeons but it could return if more of that type of content hits.
I still have somewhat bitter memories of when you'd tell people you were a stamina nightblade and they'd either laugh or tell you they'd just filled their group
But in general I think being able to share you build (or bits of it) with people is great and there are some mods designed to make that easier but it should always be a matter of choice not simply someone being able to query your character details.0 -

I think I understand you now. Very reasonably spoken.
While I've never liked the gearscore concept particularly when it comes to PvE, I'm honestly just tired of people talking about PvP "issues" from a maxed/high-CP perspective. Ironically, those who play with no to low CPs are actually the ones required to play more skillfully to be successful in PvP. A part of me wants the high-CP'd people to know, "You couldn't kill me this time." The other part is just plain curious how many CPs other PvPers have when I see them in the field. :-)
Anyway, I think ultimately you're right that it should be a matter of choice. And as others have mentioned it would be better not to open up a new avenue for harassment.

✭I don't like the idea because it will lead to stuff like "you can only join with x amount of CP" or "you only win in PvP because moaaaar CP".
Just overall more potential for hate, considering how there are already a lot of people who want to see achievements/goldweapons first beforehand in PvE-land. It will just add more pressure to low CP players.
Exactly. My Templar, outfitted for healing and her 230 something cp has TROUNCED often 1v2 and occasionally 1v3 of much higher pvp rank than my own (lvl 10 whatever that's called) and I am not even some kind of skilled pvp-er.
Edited to add: this was when I've been jumped in IC for telvar so not like I was on the prowl in Cyro or anything lol
As for pve there's not a single thing other than MA I've not cleared several times over with good groups to bad groups.
