I'm still practicing in the normal one. I need to optimize my build before I have an attempt at the veteran version. As soon as I get through normal without a death I'll move on and (probably) come back to the forum to *** and whine.

Only killed 5 bosses so far. My motivation to do the arena is pretty low, as there is no loot I could need or trade.

Normal and Veteran are too far apart to test any viability between the two major issue ZOS having with their difficulty. If you want to improve on Veteran start with Veteran first

Makes sense to start with the veteran arena to get an impression of the damage dealt to you and damage you need to deal. But to learn the mechanic and master them normal is fine for now. As an example, I died multiple times in number 6 on my first run. After being more comfortable with the mechanics in this one I managed without dying on the second run.

Last time I did Veteran Maelstorm Arena was when I was new to VR16 and with VR14 gears. I died horribly at the very first boss in Stage 1. Checking my log, regular monster's basic attack hit me with 6,000 - 7,000 damage each. Turned me off completely. I might give it a go when I am more well geared with 300+ CPs until then, not worth my time.

Don't mean to freak you out, but if you think 6k-7k attacks is high you're in for a maaaajor surprise later on. Arenas 5-9 are full of one-shot mechanics, boss enrages and dps checks. Even outside of those mechanics, bosses are hitting for +15k and certain dots are ticking on you for +10k dps.

Oh and there's CC everywhere. if you're not careful you are slowed, knock-backed, stunned pretty much on cool-down.

That's said it's absolutely fine and there's a bunch of people that have done it deathless and a very big number that have done it with less than 10 deaths. So let's hope they don't nerf it :)

I'm stuck on stage 1. Bugs galore. Took an entire round's worth of ads at once, dead. Weapon swap refusing to work, dead. Skills locking up, dead. Boss spawns ads, lag spikes, dead. Taking all the bosses hits at once, like they built up but my character didn't register them as having been hit, dead.

    It's a buggy hell.

And I'm trying to do with with a stam nb.

Well, I had not enough time to test with my other classes yet. Even on Sorc I was there only 4 times on live. But I don't think it would be something absolutely different. Something would be harder, something not.

And I've already seen some cases like:

"Ok, I can't pass it as a DK (Templar). Hmmm. I will just go there as Sorc! They say it's easy mode!.... Time pass.... *** this game. They should nerf this ***." Being a Sorc is not a 100% go and win situation. There are some really tense moments even for "survive/bolster" bugs with fancy shields" aside from top competition in class leaderboard.

Went in there only once to take a serious stab at it. I didn't even know the mechanics, had never seen it before and got to round 6. Haven't gone back yet. First, it's a gold pit and second I just don't care that much to spend all that time learning the last 3 arenas just for one mediocre master's weapon.

I'd like to see some parses with these weapons or feedback as to the dps increase they provide...maybe that will spark some interest again but right now it just feels like a suck on time and resources. whens the next dlc?

Currently in Meta atleast for DK which I happen to know you play

Most DK's atleast the ones ive seen pull the best numbers have a dead slot staff so this staff would be nothing but a dps increase of 1.5k minimum maybe thats mediocre to you but to me that is significant

I cannot wait to get the staff, but unfortunately if my past runs are any indication its going to be a defending Ice staff

They should just reward us for every successful run with some sort of token, with enough tokens, we can go and exchange for the desired Masterweapon instead of relying on randomness. Doing Vet will reward more tokens with a chance of getting Masterweapon while Normal rewards fewer tokens. Just my 2 cents.

I've reached last boss stage 9 twice. But getting there takes me hours(especially wiping to all these bugs) so I only get a few tries. I'm like completely mentally and physically drained and have to go to bed, because work or other obligation next day :bawling:

Like many, I'm also thinking of doing it on my magicka sorc instead. So hard for my templar to burst stuff down fast enough and lack of range + mobility makes some encounters pretty much rng if I pass or no. It's more frustrating than fun. After all, it's suppose to be fun.

Completed it day 2 (had to work until 10pm on day one) and I have lost interest on day 3 (due to the loot and negative outcome of doing a run). I'm running each char (so far only temp and sorc because I ahd little time but this weekend I might actually be at hoem so the other three may follow) into the weekly now for the most cost efficient shot at m-weapons. i might even have fun competign for scores but tbh I don't want to waste the money for that.

Got a defending resto already which I wanted for solo pvp on my temp and which is nice for repeated arena runs. i still want the other weapons with a good trait btu i don't really need them. Would only be interesting once I change item build on my classes

destro's could be nice for my sorc, but then again, i only play the sorc for the arena weekly so it's not really a reason to go arena at all

    Cuyler,

Next time we go into sanctum I'll show you a manti parse. I only have the one staff on my back bar for the wall of elements enchant and I've gotten about a 1-1.5k increase in dps. Since I've changed my gear over to julianos and using the staff instead of the old martial knowledge I've been using since forever.

On another note, the arena is a big challenge. I understand a lot of people are having trouble with it but it's only the second week and people are giving up entirely. Some people just have such a bad mindset for it and tbh I think a big part of it is that it's a solo arena and they have no one to blame but themselves so people get frustrated.

Even if you just go in and master the first 5 arenas for a few days, it will make learning the last 4 easier since you can get to that point much much faster with practice. I spent 6 hours on just the last boss and now I can do it in 2 tries max. Round 7 boss is the one that I hate the most, it's still giving me trouble.

What I wrote may have been a little misleading, I don't think the weapon is mediocre....I don't know if it is or isn't which is why I said I needed more feedback. I was simply saying that if it turns out to be a wash I definitely will just ignore wrothgar completely.

Right now with work I'm lucky to get 4-5 hours of play an night, which could easily be eaten up practicing vMA during that time, and wouldn't be participating in my guilds. That's a whole other thread though. http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/223261/the-failstrom-arena

If using scathing, tbs or julianos then yeah, you've got a dead slot. Scathing well, don't get me started...after so many runs I still only have 3 pieces.

Thanks for the feedback though, hopefully I get some more free time to practice and get the runs down to an hour or two (I spent around 4 hours getting to round 6 my first shot).

I blew most my mats recently crafting julianos so haven't had a chance to make tbs, but according to @Asayre, julianos should beat out tbs anyhow after 450 cp. But, I happen to know ;) that your guys have done some testing on tbs and that maybe the way to go before scathing, haven't had a chance to confirm it myself unfortunately. I'm rambling...point is I don't have a dead slot atm with overwhelming/torug's and it is better than julianos and therefore tbs? I'd love to finish the scathing but at this point I'm a little burnt out on ICP.

Haven't completed it. I don't have anywhere near enough champion points and my gear is only purple v15. I have attempted it and I noticed pretty quickly that my magicka templar doesn't put out enough DPS or sustain necessary to pass even the first stage.

First of all: I'm a medium player and I appreciate the hard-mode in games.
But I am so frustrated of the bugs I will not try it again before they sorted them out. It should be (very) challenging, but like this there is no challenge at all and so ridiculous. If you are not sure the skills you tap will be executed properly, what sense is there to proceed?
We pay for a fun and stable game. But this is getting absurd.
