Is your original main now your crafter?

I started with a character that I was going to max out everything on, and ended up learning enough traits that I've made him my crafter now. Anyone else having this happen with them?

Yup. My very first character, a stam sorc, turned out to be my crafter. I guess it makes sense - you start learning traits, then it just makes sense to build on that instead of going back and doing it from the beginning.
I actually enjoy stam sorc, so he still does a few runs in PvP and Wrothgar from time to time!

It's too late to change now given my main knows nine traits in everything and heaps of rare styles and recipes such as psyjic.

I will be moving my enchanting and alchemy to another character to free up a few skill points however.

Yah my main is my crafter. It's a pain to reset it everytime so now it's just a DPS toon and a crafter.

All of my other characters have skill points into crafting though, for those sweet hireling mails.

My original char is my crafter.
My original main (who I still consider to be my main, even though he's actually my second-highest level character) is my primary crafter. He doesn't do my provisioning (he is a max level provisioner, but I've got another character that knows all of the recipes) or my alchemy (he is a max level alchemist, but I have another character that has all of the skill points spent on the passives), but he does all of the other crafting professions for all of my characters, and for my friends.

This isn't really a matter of him gradually becoming my crafter, though, it's more that I always loved crafting in previous Elder Scrolls games, so it was always my plan to do a ton of crafting on my main character.

Flawed poll is flawed. My main always did my crafting. I had no need of a separate "crafter" character. The recent changes have confirmed this as the correct decision. End of.

I think it's pretty natural for this process. Your first toon is often your highest, with the most skill points and levels in crafting (often just by breaking stuff down). You often also have the best recipes, most styles unlocked, etc.

then you start running alts. It seems natural to craft on your highest toon for the atls. So unless your main toon is simply your most favorite in all the roles, they probably will end up doing more crafting then adventuring.

    Mine did :).

The second character I made is my main crafter, but it was first character I wasn't a total noob on. That being said, there are still probably a few quests in Grahtwood I need to finish. But I don't really play on my first character anymore.

Suffice to say, my main is my crafter too.

That being said, my first character is my provisioner, and has too many recipes invested in him to just make my Sola a provisioner.

I had similar aproach: my main does blacksmithing and clothing, my mage-type character does enchanting and alchemy, and my baby templar lvl 25 does all the cooking and woodworking. Not wise to split woodworking for different char, but that just fitted for characters. Might have to learn woodworking with my main someday.

I used to have my Crafting split between toons. Now all equipment is made by one toon. Another has Provisioning and Alchemy. Another does Enchanting.

My main learnt all the motifs as I levelled so it made sense to have him master the equipment crafting side of things. On my first alt I then learnt all the consumable trades. seems to work for me

I only have one toon. He is also my crafter. I maxed every craft skill. I only don't use the visual part where you can easily spot the resources. They are also spotted easily without.

The only thing I don't have researched is nirnhorned. I only have this on swords.

I have no main crafter, as the skills are spread out across multiple chars.
My main currently has 5 Crafting skills, but right now I'm levelling my 2nd MagBlade and she's going to take over both Alchemy and Enchanting eventually so that I can make gear with Tryxus since he knows 8 traits on Light Armor, Staves and Swords and since he knows many motifs including Glass

I don't like making a char specifically for crafting, so I try to spread out my crafting skills across all of them. That way I can enjoy the story and PvP with all of them

Not that I'm not enjoying that with Tryxus: he has 300+ Skill Points so I had to put a lot of them in crafting skills. I alrdy had every skill and passive unlocked that I needed

My original main is still my main and has always been a crafter in all 6 crafts. Although I have a bunch of alts and enjoy some of them my first character just felt and looked how I wanted and so has done a lot of the content and has plenty of points to cover crafting and still have 2 weapon tracks and all relevant class, guild and world skills unlocked for what I want...

I wish she was. Too late to change it now. She leveled up all equipment crafts, so she could be, but research is untransferable.

My main does Provisioning and used to do Blacksmithing before I realized I don't want to learn motifs twice. My second character does Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking. My third character does Enchanting and Alchemy.
