another update, why no fix for pathetic siege damage?

@ZOS_BrianWheeler you guys fixed siege damage last time game balance tweaks made it uselessly underpowered... please restore siege engines to their former glory, blob combat is dull and counter-immersive, to the point where now PvP is bleeding players everywhere from wrothgar to fallout to star wars

    I got a Coldharbour Ballista the other day from a dolmen and I was like "meh" and forgot I had it until just now. Before I would have been like "holy crap time to lay waste to whole armies".
    It just boggles my mind when they were adjusting the Cyrodill buff that NOT ONE person on their team thought to see how it would effect siege. Yanno, a huge part of AvA combat? That siege.

    the cold fire ballista does almost as much damage as regular fire ballistas did in the v1.6 patch (about 6.5k each tick for v2.2 cold fire, compared to about 8k each tick for v1.6 normal fire) so it at least has a small chance of making an impact vs blobs... the coldharbour trebs gotta be mothballed until a fix comes though, 9k damage once every 14 seconds simply isn't a threat, it needs to be restored to the 18k it did in v1.6, which was enough to scatter blobs without one-shotting the average player

    I keep seeing threads about this and honestly don't know what you are on about. I play on xbox and cold fire ballistas hit for 19k which is less than 1.6 but still reasonable. Is there a big difference in the damage on PC or do you just want one hit kill siege?

    @spliffo that could also be the UI displaying the impact and 6-second DoT as a single value in the death recap... basically if siege isn't sending stacked groups scattering, it's not doing its job, and that's whats happening on PC... blobs of players just taking a nice warm bath in siege aoe spamming their healing springs without a care in the world

    Is that a problem with siege tho or AOE Caps? The siege is doing the damage it is just being mitigated by dodgy mechanics

    I'm ok with Coldharbour siege one shotting the average 20k health player after a tick or two of the DoT. It's CH siege for goodness sake. Make it scary. L2p or get shot up imo.

    I cannot agree with this more, Xylena.

    I loathe the zerg meta and refuse to run in big groups, as you well know, and not being able to make any dent with siege is killing what enthusiasm I have left for the game.

    Fallout 4 arrived at my office today, when I get home, I'm pretty sure that is going to take up the bulk of my time.

    Never cared for the keep attacks or defense, only care for the skill lines. Personally only do 1v1 etc.

    Seige not doing damage to players? I don't care, I kill players, seige kills walls or doors.

    The problem with siege is how short of a time you can drop it. Realistically siege should be one shotting people. But couple that with having blob on blob contact, having three guys drop siege on enemy ranks without them seeing it, you can end a raid in four seconds...it should be something that takes time to place, like ten seconds atLEAST. I can tolerate enemy players having siege inside their keep pointed at our breech to smack us, I can tolerate getting wiped by that, but getting wiped by an *** that drops siege in back of a enemy raid group just because he can do it fast...thats dirty play, the siege shouldn't be there, dudes sitting in back taking in AP laughing all the way to the vendor thinking he's a top *** pvper. My team refuses to use siege in this manner as its cheap, unrealistic, cowardly to take advantage of something that clearly should have had a cast time longer than what it does now.

    Ah...so I agree, boost damage, but drastically increase timer to place, maybe even twenty seconds. Remember, were making it a one shot beast here

    If 5 to 10 players all use any basic skill on the same spot, let alone Ballista, it would be effective, so your point is moot.

    No its not, siege damage isn't underpowered imo i was suggesting why and other skills damage is irrelevant

    the fact that it takes 5-10 sieges to kill 1 player kinda proves my point :(

    I'm kind of on the fence about this.. sieges should be buffed but not over buffed because noone is going to want to pvp if every time they go to a keep they are insta gibbed by a siege. They should buff Scatter Shot catapult to do a disorient or knockdown to a % of players it hits. Then using a Scatter Shot along with a few fire ballistas / meat bags might actually help break up the zergs.

    Unfortunately, how the game is setup right now, if something can't kill you within a couple seconds it is essentially worthless since all classes can purge/heal/shield so quickly.

    Right now siege is really only good if you manage to time it with 3-4 other sieges and land at the same time. People complained for a short while when siege was buffed to do 10k-15k, but they adjusted and it was no longer an outrage for most.

    Just have to pay attention in an action oriented game.

    Personally, during sieges, if I see the defenders setting up 5-10 siege engines I am happy, because it won't stop us. It's essentially a free pass to the interior. If someone does die due to being focused, they are rezzed in under 3 seconds.

    Best way to defend keeps at the moment it to get out and kill the siegers face-to-face. Preferably before they flag it.

    Whoah there not so fast. Next year they are looking at updating DKs as it has taken them 4 or 5 months to look at them..so Devs diary is full. Maybe year after next.
