Are stamina based characters viable for leveling?

I'm looking to run stamina based characters for each of the classes--does the stamina based sorc do enough damage to make leveling entertaining? I'm looking for a challenge, but not to get overwhelmed while leveling. For example, I have a magicka based sorc that I have a hard time keeping alive-even with a pet/shields, when coming up against elite level charactrers (mini-bosses at end of certain questlines), but the stamina guys seem to be able hold up more because of the better armor. SO I guess my question is this: can the class abilities of the templar and sorc and DK (I know most use magicka) do enough secondary damage to supplement the weapon damage? (I'm going to go 2H and DW/bow as my weapon choices). Thanks

If you are worried about survival go with Sword and Shield. Defensive Stance and Shielded Assault are amazing!

Sorcerer was the hardest to level as stamina for me. Templar was easy, as the healing tree has plenty of skills that keep you alive and are also low cost. DK and NB both have good class skills with stamina morphs, and strong defensive class skills.

Unfortunately, the best stamina heals are from the alliance war skill tree, and 2-handed skill tree, both of which are hard to get at low levels.

You can build your sorc for crit and heal yourself by doing damage with surge, but that is also only obtained at a higher level (30ish if I remember).

I'm levelling up a Sorc atm and did all the stamina and weapons skills until V3. Working on Magicka now.

Between Brawler, Critical Surge and Thundering Presence groups of mobs were just melting in a couple of seconds and my health bar never moved. I think they nerfed the game quite a bit since I last levelled a char up.

Stamina Sorc is easy... I even use Bow and NOT 2H or DW. Clannfear is your friend, he is great for keeping aggro. The only offensive Sorc skill I really use is Energy Overload for bosses, otherwise I use all defensive spells.... Critical Surge, Bound Armaments, Elude (medium armor skill), etc.; everything is all Bow skills. Currently my Stam Sorc is running a Bow/Bow build but I am also working on leveling DW and 2H for variety sake. Of course the only real valuable skill on DW is Steel Tornado combined with Critical Surge... usually what I use for Public Dungeon mobs.
