All my skill points were reset :(

I don't know what was changed to cause it and I don't remember my builds. It's been months since I've played.

Is there a list somewhere of all the class skill changes the past few months? So I don't have to go through months of patch notes trying to figure out what happened? Bad enough I just updated all my addons and most still show as outdated but now I don't even know what to do with my characters.

I agree. Same exact thing happened to me.

I logged in after a few months off, and I can't remember what my build was or how to properly recreate it. I ended up just starting a new character, rather than trying to put the pieces back together.

I don't see why these respecs can't be optional. I hate respecs at the best of times, but a forced respec is just about the worst idea ever.

Everybody was reset.

The good news is that none of your skill progress was lost. You can simply put the points back into the skills and morphs you had before and they'll be back to where they were.

Be aware though that some of the actions on skills have changed.
Read the tooltips carefully to make sure that the skills are actually what you want.

That's what I mean though, I don't remember all the skills I had, and I have no idea what changed. I didn't lose points or progress but I'd like an updated list of all the skill in game so I can avoid reading half a year of patch notes.

If they respec was an option given to us for free I would greatly appreciate it. It doesn't have to be forced, just a free respec token or something.

I hope you remember your build and that not too much has changed in it. But think of it this way, you saved a lot of gold resetting everything for free! My V16 gets charged like 14K at the shrine to reset her skill points.

For all your base skills it's easy since they will still show a full bar in the menu even before you put a skill point back into them. For morphs, you just have to remember which one you had.

No not really.

Most of the fun is building the characters, and after not playing for 6 months, it just felt like jumping straight into end-game with paint-by-numbers skill allocation on a cardboard cutout.

Besides, I wanted to try something different anyway. But that doesn't negate the fact that logging in to an empty husk was definitely the final push to start again.

As stated above, IC caused a skill point reset. Also, what was not stated above is your Mundus Stone probably got reset too, so check that.

Yeah mundus is gone too.

I've used up about half of my skill points. The rest I can't decide on because I don't remember what I had but I do remember that a lot of the skills I chose I never used.

It's actually pretty nice to get a free reset once in a while. The longer you play the more aware you become of what skills you need or don't need. I find myself trying out new skills just to level them up and morph them then go back and respec once they're max level

It's nice to get a free respec too but it shouldn't be forced. Give us a free respec token or something that we can use whenever we want.

Semi-related:

If the morphs on a skill are reset, is there a way (via addon or otherwise) to see which of the two morph options were previously leveled, before actually re-morphing them?

Like, if I don't remember which morph I chose before, is there a way to see which morph has already been leveled?

I just came back and all 8 of my characters were reset and I don't remember how they were setup before. I wish they would let us unspec what we want to change or have see what we were speced before.

Resetting everyone is such a pain.

I also think that they should make it clearer what benefits are to each choice. Example heals ally. Ok does that mean I count as an Ally?

To complicated to setup a character!

It's not too complicated unless you have hundreds of skill points, can't remember how you spent them and aren't sure what was changed to cause the reset in the first place.

I used wykkyds outfitter or what ever and all i had to do was skill all my skills up by one ( no morphs) and then have it slot my skills and it would remember my builds so i dont have too. I then pick morphs and make my modifications to them as needed per update.

It looks to me like when Orsinium came out I just had odd bits and pieces of my skills reset. Still haven't found them all.

Trust me @Holycannoli you would probably not be super happy if you jumped on your old build just to find that it doesn't play the same BECAUSE of the changes they've made. Then your post would read more like, "wtf ZOS you changed how my skills work and now my build isn't viable. Give me a free respec!" lol Or maybe you wouldn't, but you get what I mean don't you?

On the plus side, having to put your skill points back in will help teach you more about your class and character in general. I can honestly respec into serveral different builds with only a few minutes devoted to reading and deciding what skills I want to try.

This. You don't have to worry about it anymore.

So many people complained about having to do a few minutes extra work, and ZOS, in their infinite wisdom, managed to translate "Please don't force respecs on us!" to "Please don't give us a free respec ever again."

I'm not sure who I'm more annoyed at... The people complaining about the free respecs, or ZOS for not understanding that the forced aspect of them was the only real problem.

The reason everyone's skill points got reset at IC launch OP is because of the large amount of changes to all the skills in the game, or most of them anyway. Even if you did remember your old build you still would benefit from looking over the skills to see if the changes have changed how your build worked. The reset gave you a freebie to work a clean slate with since some changes were pretty differentiating!
