I just completed the quest at Graystone Quarry for the first time (actually, due to a rollback as I was completing it, you could kind of call it the second time).
First off: this is a dwemer ruin. More than any other dwemer ruin I've encountered in ESO outside of Wrothgar, this felt like a proper dwemer ruin. I believe there's some other dwemer stuff in Wrothgar, but I haven't encountered it yet, so I can't say if anything else in the zone is an even better example.
Second: that puzzle was probably the first one I've seen in ESO where I actually had to do some trial and error, and then stop and sit down and work out exactly how to solve it. For anyone who's having trouble figuring it out, here's my solution in spoiler tags:It takes 8 rotations for each of the rings to go around 360*. Taking the starting location as 1, the inner ring needs to be at location 2, the middle ring needs to be at location 8, and the outer ring needs to be at location 5. Hitting the control on the right moves the inner & outer rings 1 step, hitting the control in the middle moves the middle & outer rings 1 step, and hitting the control on the left moves the inner & middle rings 1 step. So if you hit the right control 3 times, then the inner & outer rings are both at location 4. Then you hit the middle control once, so the inner is still at 4, the middle is at 2, and the outer is at 5. You then hit the left control 6 times, so the inner has gone all the way around once and ended up back at position 2, the middle ring is at position 8, and the outer is still at position 5.
Nice job on this one ZOS! I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was nice to meet up with Neramo again, too.
I have to fully agree, this has to be one of the ESO highlights - I wish there were more of these riddles.
In fact I tried "trial and error" first, too, then fired up google and luckily didn't find a clue. Then I took pen&paper and started to analyze and solve the puzzle.
My "trial and error" phase was mostly about figuring out how the controls worked, figuring out which position each ring had to be in, and figuring out how many moves was required to get back to the starting position. Then, once I had that info, I used pen & paper to work it out. I don't think I would have been able to solve it without doing it that wayI have to fully agree, this has to be one of the ESO highlights - I wish there were more of these riddles.

I've ran into two more EP NPCs - the dark elf siblings exploring dwarven ruins. No AD characters as yet.

No, unfortunately you wont.Because depending on your choice in a quest in Reaper's March good old Raz might be dead. Or at least buried beneath tons of stones.
They wont choose a potentially no longer "alive" protagonist for a quest, and then do all the voice recordings and stuff twice for different npc just in case they need to switch over to someone else.
Haven't met any npc from the yellow side yet. But I am not completely done with Wrothgar yet either.
