Magicka DK

Can someone provide me with a build that doesnt use destro staff in both bars? I really like the idea of a firebreathing dragon dude up in someones face just smashing them with lava and fire dots but i have no idea how to make a build. Thanks in advance :)

Why dont you want to use destro staff on both bars? What else do you want?

You can use dual wield for more spell dmg, you can use 1h and shield for more block bonuses and general tanky (also these two allowes you to have one more set piece). You can also use restostaff as well.

I dont have any builds for you, but this is the weapon options other then destro.

If you want to do damage you should use 2 destrostaves in melee range.

You can go stamina then if you want melee. Its not many stamina options tho but there are a couple.
But is this build just for fun leveling and maybe a pledge, or do you want high end game build?
I see on your notes that you are not even veteran rank. You shouldnt worry too much then :)

Don't count on DoT's working in PVP. They're purged by anyone and everyone.
Dual wield+Resto is the way to go if you want in your face melee DK. You don't use the dual wield skills, it just buffs your overall spell damage. Burning Embers+Whip and you're all set for a 10 minute fight against any other magicka DK!

If you plan on fighting anyone other than a fellow magicka DK, or a scrub with nothing but projectiles, you're gonna want a different class though

You can equip any weapon you want, but it wont be ideal. If you want to go Magic DK for DPS, which IMO is the right move, Destro staff on both bars makes sense. DKs do their damage via multiple DoTs and a spam skill (whip). The reality is that you will be in melee range for 99% of this. The only range skill we really have for a DPS rotation is eruption.

The reason we use Destro on both bars is for weaving. DK passives buff fire damage, so we want as much as possible. If you look at the damage report for any DK pulling 20k plus DPS the second or third highest thing on the recap will be Heavy (medium) attacks from the staves. You can swap to Dual Swords for more spell damage, but it wont make up for the loss of the weave. If you weave with swords, the weapon attacks will scale of weapon damage (which will be low on a magic build) so its a big DPS loss. Some people I know have experimented with using Swords on their back bar to apply DoTs without a weave because of higher spell damage, but it seems to be a wash.

If trying to DPS, sword and board is NEVER the right answer in PvE. Anyone who says they DPS on a sword and board for end game PvE content has no clue what they are doing. If you are dead set on using bladed weapons, go stamina. Your AoE DPS will increase, but your single target wont be as good. As Dunmer DK, your fire passive synergies are even better. Embrace the fire staff, buddy.

PvP is a totally different story. Stam DKs are a little better currently it seems, and a sword and board might make sense for a brawler type. You can also use it with a magic build to tank and gap close. But if you bring your sword and board into a vet dungeon and claim to be a DPS, your will get nasty comments from many. Just a warning. :)
