Do you think the spell damage system needs tweaking?

    I don't mind the way it works now since DW/2H users do not have the utility of weaving effectively (the Magicka recovery aspect of HAs is irrelevant to me given how easy it is to get great sustain with DW/2H.) That said, if one wanted the spellsword aspect to be truly preserved, they could just make the spell damage bonus from DW/2H only apply to Magicka skills with a closer range (10m or so, just a spitball.) However, they would also have to provide some better options for staff users to increase their spell damage at range in much the same way. I think this would be pretty fair.

    It's unbelieveable how much more spell damage 2 handed swords and dual wield provides.
    I would not nerf them, but tweak staves to be at the same level at least.

    People are complaining about this since I can remember. This is just frustrating, I am basically forced to equip ugly melee weapons, because I sacrifise too much damage if I don't. This doesn't feel good.

    Seriously?


    Spell damage is so much harder to stack than weapon damage by itself and you want to reduce the spell power cap by at least 300 just because of your roleplaying preference?

    Staff is better at sustain dps than 2w, therefore it has advantages as well. L2P and L2 use google before making polls

    Dont make staves better make them equal to 2h. Because other classes who use magicka might not want to use a staff because of looks. A magicka NB would look ridiculous with a staff.

    I am one of the players who don't like using a staff. I just don't want to look like an old man with a walking stick. I like using DW sword, or a sword on one hand and shooting magic out of the other.

    People claiming that staffs/bows should have the same damage as 2H seriously have no clue. Wow.
    It's time for an overhaul of the current loot system!
    Implement a Token-System, so people get rewarded for their time invested!
    RNG^RNG is both tedious and undesirable!

    Not only that, but I've yet to get answered why the staff skill line doesn't have a spell crit passive like dual wield. Wearing a certain staff should be just like wearing a certain dual wield(daggers) to get crit. Staves are already inferior because of the silly concept of sorcerers running around with freaking swords just because staves are poop when it comes to damage output.

    Side note: There also needs to be a skill that gives 10% spell crit just by slotting it, like Evil Hunter. Yet again, another imbalance for spell damage.

    I like how it is at the moment. I'm just somewhat bummed that as a Sorc I have to use a staff because I don't get a good spamable class ability. And then I see Templars running around with dual swords (which looks so much cooler) and still deal more damage than me (as long as I don't Overload :tongue: )

    What I really would like to see are improvements to the different staves, so we see more impact depending what element we use. Specifically Force Shock plus morphs and Destructive Touch plus morphs should probably be reworked. Additionally a magical melee staff dealing elemental or pure magical damage would be really awesome, Magicka based players need more available weapon choices.

    I have a magicka NB and she uses staves and solos everything but group content.

    If the staff gives more spell damage than the mele weapons then every magicka will go range. If ZoS want to change it like this then the mele spell damage would be nerfed not the staff damage buffed. Because if the splell damge for staffs is buffed then the weapon damage for the bows should be buffed too.

    I'm sure that most people that voted yes is because they don't want to spend any more money on gear, can't afford 2w, don't have proxy det or just simply rp judge.

    let's wait until the Maelstrom Arena gives sufficient statistic info about the comparative strenghts.

    That will take a couple of months to mature (CP's, Mechanics, etc).

    It would BTW be great if, besides the Leaderboards, some high level analysis would come as feedback to us from ZOS.

    Makes total sense to me, however, the magical damage output must stay improving at rate newer staves can be created, otherwise i wouldn't make sense spend a lot of time gathering resources to craft a vR16 staff if its damage doesn't count, at least a bit, for the total damage of the attack.

    I dont really have any idea how to "fix" that, maybe passives for raw spell damage for light armor or dest staff.
