Are veteran ranks still going to be removed?

I use to play this game off and on but after my girlfriends son and his friends decided to play the game I thought id pick it back up again. yet one thing that kinda turned me off from this game was veteran ranks and some of the complaints my friends had with it ( i never reached veteran but they made it sound very grindy).
i did some searching around the internet but all i could find was hearsay and speculation to its removal.

champion points or cp kinda turn me off as well, and the reason these point systems do is because I mainly pvp and i like a level playing field but don't expect it to be perfect, but veteran ranks and cp seem like an artificial way of making players feel like there advancing (carrot-x-stick) to me and in my experience with other mmo's using similar systems, they always had problems with power creep and gaps in power and effectiveness thus separating the community to those that have time and those that don't.

I come from mmo's like guild wars 1-2 where gear is a bit homogenized and your effectiveness is based on your skill level and build but for the past 6 months the balance and design choices in pvp have been awful. and your effectiveness has been based on what you play rather than how you play.

can anyone accurately tell me what they plan to do with veteran ranks? and give some input on cp?

Yes they still plan to do away with veteran ranks.

As for CP, as of today (for PC at least) a catch-up system as well as cap has been put in place for the Champion Point System. This allows people with a low number of CP gain CP at a much faster rate than those with lots. The cap allows members to ONLY spend 501 points, although as they play, they still do acquire more CP (although at a very slow place) so when the cap is raised, they will have that CP available to them to spend.

Yes, it is still their goal (future goal) to remove VR's.

The Chsmpion Points system was designed to replace them as a progression system, and I think that once they are removed, itemisation may be tied to Chsmpion ranks as opposed to what Veteran Level you are.

As for how? We do not know yet. Very little information has been released.

I have been assured by more than 1 person @ ZOS that they will still be removed, but it's going to be a while before it can be implemented, leaving me to assume there is a master plan that ZOS has in mind.

do you think that an increase in cp cap may raise issues with power creep/gaps in the long run?
