Ping affects dps?

demustacio
Hello guys,

I run magicka NB as my main and I am currently VR10. I only have around ~60CP atm and I have about 1.4k spell power (I don't know if that's high for a VR10 or not) and 29k max magicka. My skill rotation for doing dos in most pie content and boss fights in pledges are (with a fire destroy staff): buff up with Merciless Resolve -> Structured Entropy -> Crippling Grasp for DoT -> Funnel Health -> repeat when buffs and DoT ends. I also use the inner light for that 10% spell crit and running the mounds stone that give critical. I use Divines on all small slots and Infused on huge slots in the armour with all magicka glyphs on all pieces. I also put sharpened on my staff. Funnel health usually hits about 4k-ish and 6k-ish when crit. I also light weave.

Now the question, during fights i can only dish out 5k dps and some people say it is low for a VR10 and sometimes people don't even want me in their group solely because of my DPS. With the amount of damage i dish out i should get more than 5k dps. Especially if i use ice comet as well which i can throw 2 ice comet per boss fight since ulti regen as a NB is high. I do my rotation spot on too, but i rarely hit 6k-8k dps.

I was wondering is it because of my constant 300ms ping since i play from Asia (my internet is not an issue because it's fast). So can anyone help me on this or give me another reason on why my dps is low? My guess it's because of my ping since each time i use the rotation there will be 300ms difference between my side of the game and the server side of the game.

Regards,
demustacio

PS: sorry for my english

First, it's your fluency with the rotation. Around VR10 you should be easily pushing 10-15k DPS on your character. Focus on Max Magicka/Spell Damage stacking sets and jewerly (if you can't afford them, Kagrenac's Hope is quite interesting crafted set). Also, don't forget to buff your damage output with Merciless Resolve and apply its Spectral Bow proc (especially when casting Structured Entrophy right before the proc). Also, you should go for Shooting Star instead of Ice Comet. 12 Ultimate gain per enemy hit is a great combo with Soul Harvest - an Ultimate you should have on your second (execute/AoE) bar that grants you additional 10 Ultimate per enemy killed apart from the initial 12 Ultimate per enemy hit. This, basically, makes you an Ultimate spamming machine. Regarding the rest of your rotation, which is keeping Crippling Grasp on, consider kicking Twisting Path in and also Dark Shades. Another interesting skill for you is Proximity Detonation (Alliance War skill). It does great burst AoE damage, but it's worth reactivating it in single-targe melee ranged fight as well. Hope it helps.

If u press a button, it will take 150ms.
A player with good ping is usually less than 100ms.

This means that you are slower than a player with good ping by a press of 1 button .

It`s your low champion points and spell damage that is the primary reason for your low damage. Once you hit 90 CP you get a nice damge boost because of the crit. chance passive.

Once you get this passive and upgrade your equipment to boost your unbuffed spell damage to at least 1,8k you should be able to get 8k+ dps. And again, when you reach VR 16 you should be able to do further upgrades which pushes your dps to 12k+.
When you have enough experience and (to a lesser extend) champion points you should be able to hit 15k+ and even 20k+ dps easily with a VR 16 magicka NB.
