What skills should I level as DK Dunmer Mage

Jon_Snow998
So I am a level 23 DK Dunmer Mage. I'm seeking advice on what skills I should be focusing on as I level up. So currently I am trying to level clothing, woodworking, destruction, all DK skills, racial, and enchanting. Do I need to be leveling other things as well? I've heard mages should level alchemy, provisioning, and mages guild. Should I be doing this? Only thing is I don't have a whole lot of time to play so I dont know if I have time to try and level alchemy and provisioning. Also Ive seen some stuff about soul magic. Thoughts?

Everyone should level Alchemy and Provisioning, if only for the passives that increase the length and effect of the consumables. Soul magic is just something that levels through your Main Questline, and the passives are okay.

I'm currently building the same thing as you, and so I recommend looking at this post for survivability of my character in PvE, and at Deltia's Laceration build.

What is a Dunmer mage? Mage is not an available class in the game.

@Gern_Verkheart A mage is someone who primarily uses spells, light armor, and a staff if you are not aware. And that is what my character does. It's just another term like archer or tank or any other basic mmo term if you are unaware. Thanks for the input though.

I think you would be better off as an altmer dk magicka user. They are perfect for mag users and also have an elemental damage buff passive

What this guy said, if you're not planning on being a vampire. High Elves are the best overall magic race, but if you're focusing solely on fire damage (you would be in this case) and want to be a Vamp, then Dunmer is awesome for the 7% fire damage and goof fire resist to negate some of the Vamp weakness. Just so you know though, don't expect to be able to PvP with a magicka DK, especially a fire mage.

Most people refer to that as a "magicka DK." It's not a basic MMO term, because the MMO's where that is usually used have a Mage class. People also don't use "archer" in this game either, at least I have never seen anyone use it. Instead they usually say "Bow Sorc/DK/NB/Temp." But, "archer" in that case is more applicable than "mage" is in the case of a macicka user. Since in this game, you will often find yourself using a 2H or DW weapons instead of a staff, and even wearing plate or medium armor. Also, a "mage" is almost always a ranged class in every game that has one, and a magicka DK really isn't, since most of your skills require you to be in melee range.

I'm a Magicka DK fire mage, and I still consider myself a distance mage even though I need to be in close to apply my DOT's; I still spend the remaining seconds during the DOT's attacking from range with Force Pulse etc and using a Destro staff.

It really doesn't matter though, I don't think the OP wants to have the definition of a mage argued over so I'll stop now :P
