If they appear to have problems is possibly because they are trying to do something different.

Ignore those few who get mad because you healed them. They obviously have no idea what is going on.
As for Healers, yes they are in great demand for Groups, especially in Group Dungeons.
As for your Templar, the highest DPS I pull is with my Templar and this is with her set up to Heal in Groups. Your main attack, puncturing sweep heals you so your all set there for solo content.
Everybody loves healing, when appropriate. Are you grouped with people that are getting mad at you, or are you healing "random" people you encounter in the open world? If the latter, your heals will count as contribution to the fight, and you will get XP. Most people won't care, but serious grinders will consider this "xp leeching" and will react badly.
[I even got dropped from one group when I healed the leader who was down like 90% with no explanation as to why.

I try not to heal randoms, although, occasionally someone is too close to my rituals and ends getting healed, but, yes, I've actually had a couple of group members get mad at me for healing them. Is there some skill that I don't know about that actually improves if you have a low health level?
In general, most folks like to be healed, but I was a little confused as to people getting mad at me for doing it (when you hired me to be your healer!). I even got dropped from one group when I healed the leader who was down like 90% with no explanation as to why.

dunno, he might be upset if you say you're a healer and he got down that low. Some people are under the delusion that they should be topped off at all times if a healer is in the party, no matter how far away they get or how many enemies they are facing.

Yep, the Healers job is to keep everyone alive, not keep them at full health. Of course it's not a good idea to let people fall that far all the time, but it does happen in dungeons. As long as they don't die, they really have nothing to complain about.
However it is also the other party members obligation to not make things difficult on the healer. Stay out of Red, dodge roll when you need to, block when you need to and other wise do what you need to do to keep the damage being done to you as low as possible. Of course a Tank is a little different in that they are supposed to take damage, but they should be set up to take that damage, not just be someone who likes to get up close and personal to a Boss.

The best thing they can do in 4 man groups is to stack up some HoT's and they should never have to spam BoL - perhaps only against certain bosses or if the tank is ***.
With the HoT's up, you can debuff the bigger mobs/boss with ele drain, throw a shard (for templar healers), throw out an orb, and put/keep a dot or 2 on the boss. All while keeping up combat prayer buff and ele drain 90-100% and without anyone dying.
SO many healers like to just spam BoL and sit in the back of the group and complain about no magicka. Or they spam BoL and attack and wonder why people die or they run out of magicka. HoT's are the best in the game right now, and ele drain is a must have for any healer. Magicka/Healing Orbs (Undaunted Skill Line) is THE #1 way to keep up your magicka. You throw one out there, preferably the tank will hit the synergy and everyone in a certain radius will get magicka regen from it. Everyone benefits from it, plus it does some decent damage to the mobs.
All healers should be running 5 piece spell power cure (if they have the pieces already).
Btw, many are also under the opinion that templars are the only that can heal. In fact, Dk's and NB's are the best healers in the game right now. Templars are 3rd, and sorc's are last.
This doesn't mean sorcerers cant heal, the best healer I know in AD NA server is a sorcerer.
Healers can do a lot more other than simply heal and stay out of the way. Class skills, resto/destro combo, snares, full team buffs, etc. They can and they should be doing much more than the average healer is doing right now. Of course, it can be dependent on the team. If the rest of the team is bad, the healer is going to have to overclock in order to compensate and they will end up pulling him down and he will have to spam heals.
That is my rant and opinion about healers.

I play a stamina nightblade tank or dps (can swap gear and do either). Just curious how a NB or DK healer can get my stamina back up, like Templar's shards do?

Mostly right, but I've got to disagree on one point - elemental drain. I'll run siphon when I'm healing, but not ele drain, because I'm not going to carry a destro staff on a dedicated heal build.

I tanked vicp all the way through with sorc healer and 14k stamina. If i can do it, you can do it. And NB is way easier to regain resources btw. You should be running siphoning attacks and never ever needing a shard. Learn to weave bro.

You shouldn't doing only healing is the point. Your dpsers can do so much more dps with ele drain up 100% of the time. Its crazy. If you ever wonder how people get 28k dps, its because they have healer thats run ele drain 100%, combat prayer, spell power cure, and the healer does dps themselves so that the boss goes down faster and their dps remains higher.

When is healing a bad thing? When someone wants to die for whatever reason, are fighting a death match or something, or just plain doesn't want it. Also when the person has a bounty and is being chased by guards lol
Aside from the last bad reason stated no one ever gripes if I heal them. However, some people don't care much for being forced to unsheathe lol
