when I think of the term spellsword I think of someone who is adept at both physical and magical attacks but should not be as good or better than a pure warrior or pure mage. the way ZOS has this set up makes it so A. Someone who wields 2 handed or dualwield will always have the highest skill in magic in addition to the highest skill in physical strikes compared to someone who wields a staff.B. a staff user using stamina/weapon damage moves will deal about as much damage as a 1HS/bow user. My proposition is to balance these by making spell damage inversely related to weapon damage instead of directly related and tweaking the damage of specific weapon types using this crude chart:
Highest spell damage, lowest weapon damage
Destruction staff
Restoration staff (only very slightly different from destruction staff)
Martial arts*
1HS/bow(the middle ground)
Spear*
2H
Dual wield
Lowest spell damage, highest weapon damage
*if these are added that will be where they should go on the table.
with this system, you won't be the best at both styles by using dual wield anymore you will have to give up something in order to be good at something else thus leading to more diverse builds. what do you guys think?
