Templar - one fix at a time

So there are several threads on the forums currently detailing ways to make Templar a smoother playing, less cumbersome class. Although these are great I thought maybe they were a little too much to take in for developers all at once.

So I thought I would start this thread to focus on just one QoL fix for Templars that would in no way at all be overpowered:

Remove the knockback from Puncturing Strikes and Morphs

The knockback currently serves almost no purpose other than to trade .5 seconds of CC for a full duration of CC immunity making Templars already sparse lineup of CC unusable. So go ahead devs, go in there and edit out that (those) line(s) of code(s) and let us play with it for a few weeks so we can all see this change did not break the class or make us overpowered or underpowered.

Then we can move on to the next QoL.

Better yet change it to a short duration snare.

Nothing, snare, long CC, anything is better than the tiny knockback.

I lean towards nothing just so people can't complain about the change adding something to an already strong skill.

I find it useful for interrupting a sorc that's hard casting crystal frags. Although, I still can't kill them because jabs won't break their damage shield.

I like the snare option, because it means they have to work to get out of your melee range, but it can be countered. I definitely think its fair because this is part of the melee build of the class. Something shouldn't be considered a hard cc if it lasts a half second. I could scarcely even call a half second cc.

Hmmm, I never find myself in melee range with a Sorcerer hard casting. If I get close and they don't have the insta cast- proc they will usually Streak through me, hoping for the proc, or if they get the stun on me then (and only then) will they hard cast it.

Between Streak, Curse, Ward, and Mines rotation, they always seem to have procced version up.

@danno8 Yeah, it's very situational and not that useful. I would rather have no CC on jabs so toppling charge and eclipe would be more reliable.

Why not give it major brutality/spell power (temp do require it) after 1 chain of jab/sweep is completed.

I've read elsweyr on the forum someone was saying that it doesn't gain the 140% bonus damage on damage shields. Does anyone know if this is true? It seems really weak against sorcs but I'm on xbox and can't test it out.

If that was the case then it's the only fix/buff I would need.

Why not give it major brutality/spell power (temp do require it) after 1 chain of jab/sweep is completed.

Mostly because I am afraid of Jabs becoming the Templar version of WB. The all in one skill that has everything you need. Adding even more damage to the skill (which is already very strong) is not what I think it needs.

You are free to suggest whatever you like though.

It's already higher DPS than WB if you can keep them in it. No need to add Empower, a small snare is perfect.

I agree with this. And lets face it, it gets pretty hard to even hit with it full force most times when all anyone has to do to counter it is walk forward through you.

Snare would fix this too. I have been requesting they replace the KB with a snare for awhile now. Sadly ZOS ignores our requests.

Give it a root. Templars don't have any roots… ;)

I like the idea of a snare or root. Soft cc's that don't grant immunity. It would be great in pvp, while not op.
