Bosmer Sorc w/ Bow

KeyboardCowboy
Greetings Travelers!

I am returning after a long hiatus from the game and think I am going to start fresh making a Bosmer Stam Sorc utilizing a bow as my primary. Can you fine people offer any pointers to a returning "new' player?

Bosmer stam sorc here. Bow/ dw is good for pve but in pvp you'll need 2h main bar at the moment.

I've posted my build in a previous thread, lemme find it

I do very very well with dual wield as my main bar in pvp. Just saying it can be done. 2h is the standard however and easier.
  • KeyboardCowboy
I planned to DW as my secondary personally, because I have never really been into 2H weapons.

That's cool. I was just making the point that 2h is not REQUIRED for pvp.

Use your dual wield for aoe/execute (steel tornado) and your buff bar (crit surge, boundless, vigor, etc. etc)

With a bow on my stam sorc, my heavy attack hits for 20k~. Something to think about.

2H has a nice buff to damage and an OK heal on it.. Also one of the cheapest, hardest hitting skills in the game being wrecking blow..

And a auto-crit gap closer for heals with Crit Surge.

I find that crit Rush with surge is not enough for pvp. I run vigor on my bar as well as crit surge and steel tornado. Spin a couple times for some heals and hit vigor and your good to go
  • KeyboardCowboy
    Vigor?

Vigor is an alliance war assault ability. The only real and by far most powerful stamina based heal in the game. Extremely powerful. You get it from you pvp skill line. I think it's rank 5 or 6 I don't remember. Beats rally by far imo anyway
  • KeyboardCowboy
Ah I see the ability now thank you!

So Bosmer Sorcerer using a bow/DW check! Will make the character when I get home. Now the question is which faction should I choose if my focus for the game is Roleplay, PvE and PvP? Mostly Roleplay and PvP

You'll need both to be survivable though. Important thing to remember on a stam sorc is that you can get a good buff with Bound Armaments without gimping yourself (by using a toggle) because of Overload's third bar.

Use your Overload bar and your options as a stamina sorc really open up, I started using Camo Hunter on 3rd bar, instagibbing vamps and werewolves with heavy attacks from stealth has never been easier.

I roll with the pact and spend most of my time in cyrodil or IC. There's usually a good amount of us rolling around depending on the campaign (I go into scourge) can't speak to PVE as to me it just a necessary evil. I roll a bosmer Stam word as my main. All that being said I'm on Xbox NA. dunno what platform or server your on

I use crit surge and vigor. I run sword and board and dual wield. A bit unconventional. My survivability, sustain, and damage are a force to be reckoned with. A build I stumbled upon throwing a bunch of ideas that should maybe work together that actually work lol. Of course just like any other build it has its weaknesss.

I don't use overload as I think it's lame as hell. Just my opinion.

If you decide to use 2h, rally is a better heal than vigor.

For pve, yes dw and bow is better dps (with a higher ramp time)

But in pvp, 2h is immensely better. (1h/s isn't bad either, but lower dmg)

Running a mixture of Bow/2H/DW on my new Bosmer Stam Sorc. I like 2H because I find it more fun to use against single targets as it is a tad bit more fun than just shooting them from range... mobs I tend to use Bow more often. With DW the only worthwhile skill is Steel Tornado- great for Public Dungeon mobs utilizing Critical Surge- but again, it's the only really worthwhile skill IMO. So does a person want to have one bar, Bow, for attacking and one bar for support along with a skill that's used situationally... or run with two weapons that actually have some versatility, which I find with running Bow/2H. Of course I only solo PvE, in which case most any loadout can work with the right skill, crafted sets and food buffs. ;)

After reviewing the skill sets I was thinking utilizing a Bow and S/B for a bit more tankiness. Of course I won't know for certain until I am actually able tot get in game and play the character to get a feel for it. As of right now I am merely just theorycrafting.

@ADarklore for pvp you want a support bar and a main damage bar, for pve it doesn't matter as much. I linked my build above, but dw actually has more useful skills. At higher weapon damage rapid strikes does more than wrecking blow, and it also has blood craze for a dot. I use bow to put arrow barrage down and poison injection, then switch to dw to put on blood craze then rapid strikes. 2h and dw probably tie in single target dps because of executioner being awesome, but I run with dw and bow for the ridiculous aoe dmg.

    Opinions opinions!

In my experience for pve you can pretty much do what you want if your not an idiot you can pull it off.

If I'm running 2h I use rally as its easy convenient and provides you major brutality buff. In pvp rally provides a GGREAT hurts heal assuming you can let it tick for long enough but it's also a 1 shot deal as most fights are not going to last long enough to let it tick off for long enough for a second heal worth anything. This is all of course due to zos's wonderful blanket nerf specifically 50% reduced healing in this case. Vigor is stronger as it heals for more ALWAYS and it's instant.its technically a HoT yes but the time span is extremely short and the heal number is massive. COMBINE that with rally or crit surge and it makes both of them viable for pvp.

Generally speaking and for most people 2h is better in pvp. It is also boring stupid and requires no skill. I used to run it. Having to rely on wb creates its own issues. It's great against most people and in groups. Get against a decent player not even a good one and I challenge you to land more than one. Of course assuming it's brokeness doesn't win the fight for you. 2h has high burst damage which is what most people go for. It is not the only way nor is it "immensely better" it's the standard.

I personally run dual wield on my main dps bar in pvp. It does not provide the burst damage that 2h does about that there is no doubt. That in and of itself is counter intuitive to most people. What it does provide is more damage applied consistently with no break that grows exponentially as time goes on. I find that giving people a 1s break or more if they cancel wb out on you allows them time to think react and heal. What I have found with dual wield is that a steady increasing pressure applied from the start makes people panic and does not give them a second to to anything other than defend. There is no 1s or any seconds that they are not taking damage even if somehow they get away from your rapid strikes. If they don't they are taking stupid amounts of damage. Also I find it more mobile. I'm spinning circles around you while I'm making you bleed and stabbing the *** out if you.

I use sword and board for invasion that's it, so yes one useful skill. It can be very good as main dps bar if used properly and with bash canceling.

It it's not as simple as to just say 2h is better than dual wield or rally is better than vigor nor is it correct. Especially without any explanation.

Sorry guys for the semi rant. I dislike absolute statements as they are usually not true, or correct, or as simple as they sound. Everyone is different and everyone has different play styles and different things work better for different people and just work different.

Geerally speaking pvp in the whole game is "boring stupid and requires no skill" the whole system is a ******* joke.

And I wasn't stating opinions, I was stating well known facts. You can make anything work, but denying that something is better just to be different is just silly.

If you want an explanation, I'll be happy to provide it in a less wall of text way after I wake up.

No need I'm not here to argue just stating that "facts" are always up for revision and that there is not just one way. I am much more effective with dual wield and I explained my concept and why. I disagree with you "facts" as for me I find them to be false. Different strokes for different folks.

I try to avoid blanket statements as they do not hold true in all cases for everyone. That was my point. I always find it good do give people asking for advice as much info as possible rather than saying x or y is the best and thus the only way. Let them decide for themselves. What works for you or me may not work for someone else. More info is better. Maybe he'll decide to go with how and resto staff and wreck our faces should we ever meet him. Who the hell knows

Trust me make Bosmer templar, you will never lose stamina.(bitting jabs+quick cloak+repentance) and some times toppling charge for speed and honour of the dead/ channeled focus(for boss) for heal
