Battle Levelling for Group Dungeons

On ESO Live it was announced that a level 10 could group with a VR16 to complete a group dungeon. Also announced was that we would still be able to scale a dungeon to group leader. These seem to conflict with each other.

Please could someone help in explaining how this will work?

Dungeon scales to group leader's level.

Gear scales to your level up to the level of the dungeon.

That VR16 can run a L10 scaled dungeon with the L10 as lead, but will only ever see L10 gear from it.

Reverse it (although impossible to complete for the L10), the L10 could run a VR16 scaled version of any normal dungeon (L10 won't have access to any Vet versions of a dungeon, even if they were scaled to a non-vet level) and the L10 will still receive L10 gear (so they can use the drops), where the VR16 will receive VR15 gear from mobs, VR16 gear from bosses.

If you had a L15 in your group, in the second scenario

You are not battle leveled, so to speak, rather the content is scaled.

Orsinium, the upcoming DLC will include battle leveling, just as it happens in Cyrodiil, though your gear drops will scale to your actual level.

EDIT: This is the way it currently works now, regarding group dungeons. If they intend to implement battle leveling in future patches, the leader would choose the scale of the dungeon still. Anyone lower than that level would then be battle leveled up to the level of the dungeon / group leader.

Example: VR6, VR16, L10, L30 all run a dungeon. With the VR6 as lead, the dungeon would be VR6 level. The L10 and L30 would be battle leveled up to VR6. The VR16 would remain the same.

So will a lower level be scaled up but a higher level (than the dungeon leader) not be scaled down?

Correct. That would be reverse battle leveling, and while it would have some advantages (improved difficulty for the higher level character), it's unlikely they will ever implement it this way.

Essentially, once the level of the dungeon has been chosen, anyone already at or above that level will remain as they are. It will allow you to bring along some extra "punch" via a higher level character if your group is having difficulty with a certain aspect.

Regardless of scaling, I suspect the "contribution" requirement will still be in place. That is, even though you are battle leveled up, you will still have to do your fair share of damage/healing to get drops, though with BL implemented, this should be considerably easier to do.

This is there to prevent that VR16 from carrying the L10's through the dungeons, providing full drop benefit in the process without much work (which is actaully a good thing.)
