What is the critical chance cap? My DK is at 56% right now at v13, with a wep dam of 2800.

There is no cap. I have 90% critical chance with a 1.9x critical multiplier (just added CDM values together) and 3100 weapon damage.

For anyone who wants to know how to achieve this. You need to be a nightblade with twice born. With twice born and all divines you get about 18% crit chance and damage. Then slot Expert Hunter and use most of your assassination ability's in 7 medium. 2 Daggers with precise as well.

However this build shines once a certain gear set becomes live from the next DLC coming in November. This build will not be great until it is available.

Are you assuming that 1.9x multiplier by adding all of your sources of CHD together? Or is that actually tested non crit to crit damage? Many sources of CHD are applied to the base 50% instead of adding a flat value, meaning they're half of what they state. For example, on live Elfborn/Precise strikes apply to the 50% Crit amp, meaning if you have 100 into them for 25% CHD, it's only .25 x .5, which is .125 or 12.5 CHD. (This is getting fixed when Orsinium goes live, thankfully)

Effective crit chance cap is 100%. You can get higher crit chance values, but the effect would be the same as with 100%.

Yeah, im just adding all the multipliers i got at the moment. 10% from nightblade passive, 20% from shadow mundus and 10% in CP. Not sure how they all calculate together. It's easier to say it this way. Since im a console player, information about what is additive or multiplicative is not on the tool tips. So i might assume it is additive since there is no critical damage value anywhere.

What do you mean this is getting fixed in Orsinium? Are you implying that the values are additive in live? Which mean's critcal build's will be less effective next dlc?

Far from op. I just run a crit build. If anything im probably under-powered since i cant crit Sorc's. I just wanted to let op know that there really is no limits. B)

I run like wise, would also like to know what was meant for fixed in Orsinium? I probably won't change crit build though stamina based heals scale of weapon crit so dots crit healing and proc'ing nb passive is nice.

Just wish trap beast would proc the extra crit damage like it says so I can push it further. I assumed a lot like @GreenSoup2HoT
    That 100cp into crit damage/healing gave 25% meant 1.5 + 0.25 + shadow 0.12 + gold divine 0.063 = 1.93 crit damage multiplier but you say it's 25% multiplicative to the 50% ergo 12.5 = 1.5 + 0.125 + 0.12 + 0.063 =1.808 crit damage multiplier
But I am stamina NB so I just don't know if precise strikes shares the bug that elf born suffers of rounding and therefore caps around 89cp. and as stamina heals go off weapon crit chance I really think precise strikes ought to buff them not elf born, but hey ***, stamina is still being worked into the game it'll get sorted I hope. I want my rally and vigor to crit heal with crit boosted like you can do with elf born on a magicka class. But for now a hot criting is good enough if you have high crit chance it's still a better heal more often. Just feels healing is still not on par for stam and magicka but that's a discussion for another thread

Ps I achieve what you describe btw soup with humdings +nightmother + assassin skills + bow+ CP passive. Getting ready to swap in the briar rose for hundings when Orsinium comes, just need to reach level cap on that alt so I can make it gold and go from 83% up to the fullest extent, only running blue gear as is.

    Thanks for the numbers. @willymchilybily

I really like having high crit chance + damage. On my build i run Forward Momentum so i can still use double take in stealth. The crit heals from Vigor and HoT from momentum is good enough for me. Hopefully there isnt to much change to crit builds next DLC.

If anyone can list some changes to crit next dlc. Would help B)

Yeah @GreenSoup2HoT I went that root assuming most people won't have Much CP into the resistance to crits. But as you can't critical hit sorc shields it's a real pain challenge vs sorcs  and so many Phoenix sets which have that trait by default. Though I suspect when briar rose is available high crit chance will be the meta, and people will accuse us of copying some fotm builds. Lol
Also liked the idea of using double bow bars with ambush, surprise attack, magnum shot, for melee once I got vigor, using sap essence or other morph for damage buff. But couldn't get it to work having 2 slots instead of the one for rally lost cc/escape from my bar, and no buffing from stealth where camohunter and snipe really shine. Alt builds are fun when they work though

On topic I found a pic of some easily achieved high crit, though not a viable build but just showing what's possible even at VR 3 blue gear ( I call him crit-a-puss maximus)

@willymchilybily You sound like someone i would want to duo with in pvp.

I also have tired to make a double bow build. However people just spam gap closers that its a lost cause. I've always said gap closers needed to have a reduced range. This way range users can break distance to do some dps.

I cant wait for that briarheart set. Its going to be nice. I lol'd when you said we will get accused of using some FOTM build. It's so true though. The briarheart set will push me to about 92% crit. Wish i was a khajiit. I'd have 100%

The question I have is, as a Magiblade, can you pull off a crit build or are you better off with going full spell dmg and cp's on thaumaturge?

And if so, which sets (leaving out the scathing mage set which is really hard to get) are the optimal choices for a Magiblade crit build?
High hopes ZOZ, don't let us down ^^

Yeah unfortunately that's not how CHD is calculated. Some sources are bonus CHD and some are flat CHD. By bonus it means it applies multiplicative-ly to the base 50%, effectively cutting it's value in half. Others add additive-ly and increase as they state. Shadow mundus provides 12% CHD base, and adds a flat 12%, up to 18.3% CHD with all legendary divines gear (7 pieces). Things like Major/Minor force multiply to the 50% base, and provide only half the CHD they state. CP's elfborn/precise strikes do the same thing on live, and give half their listed amount, so that 10% you see is actually 5%. When Orsinium goes live that bug will be fixed and at 100 points into elfborn/precise strikes you will get 25% CHD instead of 12.5% now.
