Barber Shop

Please?

I'm sure this has been requested before, but please let me redesign my character. I'd pay for this in the Crown Store, if need be, and in fact I think that's a great place for ZOS to put this service. I'm dissatisfied with the appearance of my main character, as are a number of my friends and guildmates. Several of us played at launch, and if you recall the ghastly character-creater-preview bugs that made it nigh-upon impossible to actually see the design you were making with your character, you'd understand why some of us really want a chance to make our mains look, you know...remotely presentable.

Haircuts and hairstyles, facial markings/tattoos/scars, shape, all of that. And while we're at it, paid name changes, gender swaps, faction switches and race changes would be nice...not that I'd ever leave Daggerfall or switch my race, but I know many people have been requesting it.

It's something most of the community wants, why shouldn't the OP post a thread about it. Granted, he could have bumped an old thread, but what difference does that really make? If the front page is nothing but identical player requests, maybe ZoS will finally take a hint.

Barber Shop is an essential future in nowadays MMORPGs. It's laughable that ESO hasn't got one. Oh wait, when we think about what ancient gameplay mechanics ESO has, it's quite obvious why there is no Barber Shop.

Yes, barber shop is one that definitely needs to be high prority. Really. It is standard for any modern (And old) MMORPG and thus, should be implemented here too.

If they decide to make this a crown store service, i suggest we stop paying for them and continue playing to use their bandwidth.. Maybe flock a major hub to overload that zone a bit.. Ya know.. Riot EVE style.

Full character remake is something that can go to crown store, so is race change but basic hair, tattoo, jewelry, skin color/tan and so forth is something that belongs to game, used with ingame gold, not real world cash.

Agreed. It kills me the people begging for it so bad they are willing to pay for it. A basic hair remodel should be free as is in many other games. People don't understand if they keep offering to pay for what should be included....where does the line stop?
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

As I, and others have said before, let's hope Zenimax implements these things in a sensible way. It's not really a complex mechanic, as it's been done so many times before in other MMOs, and they almost always get it right.

In-game changes (costing gold at an NPC):
    • Change hair style/colour
    • Change facial hair style/colour
    • Change jewellery/accessories
    • Change face-paint.

    Crown-store changes:
    • Change all appearance options (basically all visual character creation screen options)
    • Change race
    • Change gender
    • Change name

I agree with your list here but I think NEW Hair Styles/Facial Hair/Accessories/Face Paint/Body Paint/Branding Marks should all be sold in the Crown Store with ONE change of the corresponding type costing no in-game gold. After that, in-game gold to change these things.

Agreed. I might not see much of an reason to allow race and gender changes, though I also wouldn't mind the crown store selling them... at an higher price.

Personally I think new options would be a great idea, though I would say, only some ought to be sold in the crown store, and some ought to be unlockable through achievements...

Well if blizzard can have for free and yes i say blizzard which is one of most greedy mmo company out there have change hairstyle and beard for in game gold i dont see why ZoS cant do the same and i also hope the add more hairstyle, beard, tattoo as well and if want to earn some money the can add hairstyle, beard, tattoo bundle to crown store but honest the barber shop should be add to game and change should only be in game gold not real money.

I'm not "begging" to the point that I'm stating that I'd pay for it. I'd pay for it in other MMOs, and have, and thus that's basically my expectation. I agree that some basic changes (hair style, body/face paint, facial hair, etc) should be in-game gold, and the others (scars, gender change, etc.) could be paid for. I'm just asking for ANYTHING along those lines, as I love my main, but don't really love how he currently looks.

I like the way it's done in EQ2 and LoTRO - both of which involve a "barber". EQ2's lets you redesign your entire character though you can't change race or sex. LoTRO is facial/hair appearance only. Both are harmless fluff mechanisms which do nothing negative for the game and they allow you to exercise that surge of whimsy you get to modify your character.

Or you could go to the extreme the Secret World does, which actually involves a quest and ends up costing quite a bit. I'd rather ZOS didn't go that route, but yes, it's an option.

Dead horse subject or not, it's something that would add frivolous fun value to the game and needs to be added.

Let's face it even PWE/Cryptic Studios money grabbing P2W Star Trek Online has a FREE character customisation option called the tailor, it has been there since launch and as yet, wait for it, they haven't charged for the use of. You can't change gender or race but you can change everything else. Character customisation is a serious omission from an MMO, especially one of this quality.

i agree with some of the posts. Barber facility i.e just hair, facial hair and eyebrow change free.

Face sculpter where you change race skin tone etc crown store.

However new hairstyles and beards put them in the crown store release 4-5 hair styles in each pack. If they are of better quality than the lego hair we have now i could see them going $10 per pack easy

I totally agree! And also a possibility to change my character`s name would be great. And hairstyle too!!
It could be some part of the map, not crown store a small house, where we could enter and barber could do the change for us. that would be great!! like hair dyes, hair cuts, stuff like that!!

I don't get this. I mean I can sorta identify because there is still quite a gap between character selection screen vs how my character looks in the Wailing Prison vs how my character looks in-game.

Which is why I have re-created several characters multiple times.

After the first few levels, or the first few hours of play I can tell if I like my character's looks. If I really don't - to the point of being really bugged - then I reroll.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
