Hey there! I'm curious, I'm about to start playing ESO and I'm wondering any advice you would suggest and even starting classes / guides to read that would make my experience easier and smoother :)

Thanks!!

    Welcome to eso forum

I would just say have a few hours look on the forum, this sector would be a start(Player guides).

I had some good advice from good members on here but did find after some very rude members replied to my posts it was easier to just search and if you still can't find what you wanted then ask.

Don't rush the game like others, they hit lvl 10 and go PvP/PvE, enjoy the game.
Don't dungeon unless you find players that are at good lvl's higher than yours.

Before making your first class have a good read on the benefits of each class, i did this mistake and picked the mage and went completely the wrong way on my build, it is good but still can't kill lvl 20 mobs without a fight but rank 1 mobs i can most time kill in 3 hits.

As far as character creation goes, http://uk.ign.com/wikis/elder-scrolls-online/Character_Creation helped me a lot with choosing.

Personally I decided on what weapon I wanted to use first, then chose a race to suit. You don't have to do this, but some will give you benefits towards your playstyle.

I wrote a rather extensive "getting started" guide that would perhaps be helpful, you can find it here: http://fextralife.com/getting-started-guide-for-eso/

Alternatively it's also on video form.

The top things that I would recommend to anyone from the wiki's new player help:

    1) Design your character. Research the factions, get into the lore. This is a very nicely thought out MMO and you would be missing out if you don't pay attention to what each faction and race stands for.
    2) Set your priorities: There's crafting, there's exploring, there's dungeoning, there's pvp, there are 12 man trials and solo arenas. You can do it all or only some, so read up on what does what and set forth to your preferred adventure without caring for what others think
    3) Read the instructions: Some things, like crafting have curve-balls. For example, you won't efficiently level up your crafting from making things, but from deconstructing what others have made (or drops)! Things like this confuse people yet are clearly explained in the game's tutorial. If you rather read this out of game, a transcript can be found here.
    4) You can use any weapon and armor you want, so read up on their passive bonuses! Information like that is readily available in many sources including the wiki I linked above.
    5) Quests don't have significant impact on the world, so don't worry about choices too much
