Is there a reason why werewolf and vampire in eso have to be so different then skyrim why cant werewolf have the ability as a toggle where you can cast the ability instant with no cool down and vampires have a vampire lord ultimate

Werewolf was only toggleable with a Daedric Artifact otherwise it was a once a day thing,

Vampire Lord was part of an expansion and wasn't in the base game of Skyrim so theres that.

Werewolf in ESO is actually a better system since its not a once a day skill, granted its far from perfect.

It shouldn't be the most expensive ultimate in the game but I digress.

Vampires in ESO are different than the ones in Skyrim also because the ones in ESO are straight from the original Vampiress while in Skyrim you're part of a heavily diluted bloodline that through this diluting gained the Vamp Lord form since a lot of time has passed since the original bloodline was given to Lamae Bal... the true originals are essentially daywalkers who suffer no penalty from the sun (I guess?) since its essentially a giant insult to Arkay (who punished later vampires due to their weakened bloodlines with vulnerability...some even die from exposure)

You're a random generic Vampire with no unique qualities in the vanilla Skyrim btw.

I may have missed some stuff but meh.

Lol with that all being said tho changes could still be made to make vampire and Werewolf most similar to skyrim hircines ring could be added to make werewolf toggleable with no cool down and lord harkons blood line could tie in some how for vampire lord

It'd cause too many issues if they added a second type of Vampirism tbh.

They can't add daedric artifacts because its near impossible to balance and/or explain how thousands of people have them at the same time.

Also it'd kind of break the games lore if you could all of a sudden jump ship to being Pro Molag Bal and get his mace.

You do realize Harkon is a Pureblooded Vampire Lord who was turned directly by Molag bal himself, the Volkihar Bloodline is not diluted as Harkon was the very first Volkihar Vampire to exist, infact the Dragonborn can be a (much) Higher form of vampire then the Vestige can ever hope to become as the vestige can only become a regular vampire..like lamae Bal who despite being the very first vampire is only a lord in the sense of being a leader of a vampire clan not in the sense that Harkon is, she has her unique powers and he has his.

The form wasnt granted from dilution, the form Harkon has is an ascended form of vampire granted to him via his sacrifice of 1000 souls and I quote from Reddit, Harkon is to Molag Bal what Umaril is to Meridia and what the Nerevarine is to Azura.

Pureblooded in the elder scrolls means it came directly from Molag Bal, it does not mean its the original.

So no...the Vestige being turned by the actual original Vampiress does make him a higher form of Vampire than the diluted bloodline that Molag Bal gave Harkon who in turn turned the Dragonborn.

The Highest form of Vampire in Elder Scrolls to my knowledge (if you take ESO lore regarding this as canon) are the Scions which are descended directly from Lamae Bal since she herself has to turn you after you have had pretty much all of your blood drained from you for you to become a Scion.

You even get a nice little book explaining the rite of the scion once you're turned in ESO.

I mean the Volkihar for example take damage and are weakened from the sun while Scions freely walk in it as a result of the Volkihar's weakened bloodline.

Why Molag Bal doesn't give everyone the original strain? Who knows, perhaps he likes variety.

It'd make sense if this is the case since theres seemingly countless strains of Vampires since the time of Lamae Bal all of which have different abilities.

Because this is an mmo and not a single player game.

Honestly, if this wasn't an mmo with the elder scrolls name that needed to be designed around the "play as you want" philosophy, the game would be so much better.

Trying to cater to both mmo players and single players really ruins the experience for both. Neither party is getting what they deserve.

A pureblood is a vampire that was turned by Molag Bal, their is phsycally no difference between Lamae Bal or Verandis Ravenwatch or any pureblood for that matter as they all have the same blood flowing through them but the different powers are not caused by dilution. Harkon's Vampire Lord form comes from what he did to become a vampire in the first place which was far diffrent then how lamae Bal became one and he himself refers to the Volkihar as Scions as well or don't you pay attention to ingame dialogue? also if they are so powerful then why is Lamae Bal destroyed? her crypt is in coldharbour and seeing as she hates Bal she wouldn't be their unless she was destroyed which most likely indicates she was killed once before, Harkon however is mentioned By Valerica to have had hundreds try to slay him over the course of thousands of years and all fail.

"Why Molag Bal doesn't give everyone the original strain? Who knows, perhaps he likes variety."

Molag Bal also doesn't like turning Mortals into what are essentially Demiprinces, a vampire lord is extremely powerful (infact its probably the most powerful non-divine thing a mortal can become) and Bal seemingly Hate's Mortals and certainly wouldn't give that power out freely.

There are two sentences there. Periods are your friend.

Werewolf is far more interesting in ESO. Werewolves are far more dynamic in ESO.

    Because balance.

If werewolves had more furry time, their furryness would have to be nerfed into the ground until it was no longer giving them any advantage over other players.
If vampires had a vampire lord transformation, it too would have to be wimpy as heck to preserve the balance. And anyhow, it would make them a bit too similar to werewolves due to "transformer" status.

This is not Skyrim. In a single player game, there is no question of balance, since its only one player against the world, and noone cares if vampirism or hart-time doggieness gives any advantage. Here its a lot of players, and all of them need to (theoretically) have the same basic power level... thus neither vampire or werewolf can be allowed to give undue advantages. And thus the werewolves have a strict limit to their furrytime, and the vamps aren't all that either...

Personally I would love to see both get tweaked though. Gain in power in some ways, gain more drawbacks in other ways, to really drive it home to players that these are borderline "monsters" and not just a nifty added skill line...
...stuff like penalties for vampires that don't feed beyond simply reaching stage 4 (which most keep at anyways, for the reduced skill cost for their bat swarms).
...stuff like werewolf transformation time being affected by moon phases, and them having to hunt and kill something "preyworthy" during new moon or suffer a hefty debuff for the following game-month.
...stuff like all the guards (justice and PvP - even the ones from your own side) attacking "revealed" vampires and werewolves.

    But... that's just my opinion...

vampire was fun in skyrim, seriously? perhaps vampire lord but without a mod like Better Vampires it was boring as all hell.

I agree. ZOS seems content with burning the candle at both ends, and keeping the identity crisis motif for ESO. I feel this hurts the game more than it's helps.

Player desires are always going to be varied, but I see little benefit in forcing a focal point that purposely attempts to cater to a fractured playerbase, that utimately wants two completely different games.

Because in Skyrim you only played with yourself. Balance has to come in play here and the more stuff you had the harder and harder it is to do.
