Why do all my crafting writs send me back to Coldharbour?

Since completing the main story and moving on to "Cadwell's Silver" (Ebonheart in my case, since I started on Aldmeri Dominion) no matter where I pick up crafting writs, I have to travel to Coldharbour to hand them in. Previously, I would hand them in where I picked them up, but now every time I have to return to Coldharbour to stick them in the box. Also, I cannot pick up crafting writs in my current Ebonheart areas, I have to go back to one of the Dominion areas to start new writs. Is this intended or a bug? Getting really bored of going back to Hollow City!

The writs go to the max level zone your character can access. Soon, it will be Belkarth in Craglorn. THEN you can get the cool end-game crafting stuff from the writs, like Glass Fragments, Potion Recipe Components, etc, depending on your craft.

And, yeah. writs only in your home alliance. Been that way since writs started.Try finding one with the crafting boards close to the wayshrine. I use Mournhold for my EP. but, Belkarth isnt too bad when you get there. I suggest you try Rawlkha.

Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

But my current area (Deshaan, generally v2) is higher than Coldharbour (level 50, and all finished), so why can't I hand them in in Deshaan? I'm doing Blacksmithing, Woodworking and Clothing crafts, and all of them send me back to Coldharbour to hand in the stuff.

Hey bro. The writs don't go into the silver and gold areas. What you need to do is go to Belkarth in Craglorn. I'm assuming you are AD since EP is your cadwell silver. A little east of elden root, north of where you find the undaunted who assign daily dungeons, there's a dude next to a cart on the side of the road. Talk to him and you will get access to Craglorn where the higher level words get turned in

You may also need to do the writs in Rawlka one time, if you never have, to unlock that.. I seem to remember, way back the first week of writs, traveling up home cities in level because I didnt have one in Crag. When I requested and filled the writs in the Rift on my EP, since I had already done the "access Craglorn" quests, the next day I was able to get them in Belkarth.

Unsure if it will have any baring on the matter but the only writ I turn in to Craglorn is the provisioning one. I assume (and we all know that makes an ass out of you and me), that the level of each craft decides (to a point) where they get turned in.

This assumption is based on the fact that my provisioning is up at max, whereas my blacksmithing and leather stuff is only at 6 of 9. They currently get turned in at Coldharbour. I also have the enchanting still being turned in to my capital city as that is lower.

I deliberately keep them low because I don't have access to the next mat areas yet (only a v3 and on my second area of Cadwells Silver), so I want those areas to be active so I get the correct mats easily.

Of course, this is allllllll just my assumptions so could be completely barking at the moon :/

They go by level of writ. I'm VR6, my provision, alchemy and clothing go to Craglorn. My Enchanting, which I haven't done as long goes to Bangkorai at the moment.

Just to reiterate, the location that you turn in your writ corresponds with the level of the item you have crafted for the writ - which corresponds to the highest level materials you are able to craft with due to unlocking passives for that craft - not the level of the craft itself or your character level.

For example my level 24 character with woodworking at 35 was set back to turning in his crafting writs at Vulkhel Guard when the skills reset and I hadn't reallocated my crafting passives before grabbing the writ - which asked for maple staves.

I am still doing coldharbor, but when I hit v1 it started sending me to craglorn. Its kind of odd since that areas is v10+.

I can get to Craglorn but the quests and monsters there are too high level, so it seems a bit weird to go craft there.

Lower crag is level VR1-5, GROUPS. It is supposed to unlock at VR1, when that Stargazer dude gets the quest icon to do his access quest..

I went to Craglorn, abandoned my crafting quests, picked up fresh ones from the board in Belkarth, did them in Belkarth... and then had to go to Hollow City to turn them in again. I guess there's no escaping Coldharbour for me. Perhaps it will change when I move on to the next crafting materials, which presumably will occur when I leave Deshaan and go to the next area.

@Shardaxx Check out the links to the individual writs at UESP's page on Crafting. Each writ page tells you which delivery location is used at each rank.

Um... Does that mean you are not Tier 9/10 crafting tier? Yep, thats why.

Crafting writs go where the crafting level goes, which is dependent on your crafting skill and tier unlocked.

Coldharbour is for the next to last unlocks, Craglorn the following last step (for now, and aren't we all grateful there isn't a further writ level you have to go to IC to turn in?). Just raise your skills a bit more, unlock those last materiel tiers, and there you go...

Cadwells is sort of a trip into an alternate reality, thus no crafting writs there, as you have to do those in the "normal" reality...

All veteran writs are done in Craglorn, if you are at the top tier crafting levels. That's all there is to it, really....

Its your crafting skill level, not you character level that decides where you turn your writs in. At one point one of my characters was turning in alchemy in Mornhold, enchanting in Riften, and smithing in Belkarth/Craglorn. Finally got everything evened up, and now my only turn-in point is Belkarth.

Ah I see thanks guys, no I'm not up to level 9 yet because I'm not in areas with those materials, although I've just started finding Ash and Galatite now I've reached Shadowfen, so I'll upgrade them now.

If you move up in skill and make it to writ turn ins at Belkarth, you will have to use void bloom, void stone, nightwood for your writs. Fortunately, there is plenty to be farmed in Craglorn. Just watch your step....mobs start at VR11 and pretty tough.

Thanks, I've found some of those materials in Cyrodil but I can't craft them yet (nor use what I made if I did) so they are banked for now, I'm keen to make and use of the armour and weapons I create as I go along so up to level 7 crafting at the mo (I'm v4) and will increase it as I reach the zones with the next materials.

You can turn in the writs with galatite and ash and tiers above that also in Belkarth. Just did it this morning.

@Ganj Sounds like you're still crafting Trifling glyphs at Potency Improvement Rank I using Jora, Porade, Jode or Notade. You need to have Potency Improvement Rank VII and be crafting glyphs with Derado, Kedeko, Rekura, Rede, Kura or Kude before you turn in writs at Belkarth.
