Why do you make this gear BOP, want to ruin something good for the economy zos?

This is IC rewards for the worthy all over again. Just make them BoE and be done with it.
This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

Fixed that for you. This gear is DLC locked. All pre-IC jewelry sets have been suppressed.

IC made us all farm for the boring willpower/endurance/agility sets. Now we are supposed to be all grateful that ZOS "listened" to us and added more jewelry sets to the game.

It was the plan all along. Artificial shortage to create hype. Resist it.

I want my ravager set back.

So what? It's DLC. Of course you have to pay real money to access it. That's why it's DLC gear. People seem to think that Zenimax should give everything away for free.

It is a business at the end of the day. The game is buy to play, not free to play. Is it really that shocking a player must buy the dlc to have access to the gear?

This is the cost of the buy to play business model transition. Honestly I'm still amazed that people didn't see this coming. Now that the game is buy to play, supplemented with a cash shop. It is not going to continue the same gear access methods it had as a subscription model.

Exactly for the longest time gear has been BoE crap... these are trials! you have to work to get your gear ffs I hate seeing people running around in sets that the best and the worst players have because there is not skill diversity in gear

and hawk's eye. And vengeance leach. To those constant ZOS apologists giving me a lecture in economics: Hey, I get it. Yes you have to pay for new content and new gear but to INTENTIONALLY suppress the old gear and old engame content is what creates a moral hazard and an unhealthy game.

Since ZOS has no financial motivation to continue to update old "endgame" content, it withers away while we are waiting for new content. In the mean time, guilds die and you lose friends because their is nothing to do. With this business model, ZOS has no motivation to curate and care for its existing content since it only makes money on new content. This is bad for the game overall and really limits the replay-ability of things people like.

We have already seen this in guilds dying because DSA and trials weren't updated. We aren't supposed to want DSA and trials now. We are supposed to want the NEW arena and wait for the NEW trial. Its called the gradual strip-mining of endgame content and its toxic for game longevity.

Eh, moral of the story is that for each build (magicka sorc/temp/DK/NB, stam sorc/temp/DK/NB) there's going to be SOME combo of gear that the min-maxers have figured out gives the best stats, and once those combos are known, players will gravitate towards them with very little mind towards maintaining gear diversity. That's martial knowledge was such a big deal for so long; it's why ravager was such a big deal for so long, why dreugh king slayer was such a big deal for so long...the list goes on and on. With every set added to the game or every tweak of existing set stats, the minmaxers will again hunt down the best combos and that will be the soup du jour; the circle of life completes itself.

Having BoP gear (which granted, I'm not too big a fan of, since I'm way too lazy and underskilled to acquire it) is the only way to keep the players from becoming what amounts to a gear clone-fest. If everything were BoE, people would just snap it up in the markets.

In this case, I think having BoP gear is a good way to diversify the player base, or at least separate out the player wheat from the player chaff, as it were.

So people are apologists if they understand how a business works. That sooner or later your characters out grow their gear, and that old content is typically replaced more often than it's updated and rehashed?

If you must know any about me relevant to the situation it is that I hold nothing but contempt for several decisions ZOS makes regarding ESO. I will not blindly defend them, this is just a case that I don't overly disagree with them. I continue to play ESO with the hope of what it can one day be, and a genuine enjoyment derived from ESO's combat flawed though it may be.

The lack of endgame content is certainly an issue, but it's not directly connected to this gear fetish of yours. It's an issue because there are no replacements. I think it's important to consider that there are a few logical reasons why ZOS did not update Trials or DSA.

First being CP. It is highly possible that ZOS did not want to update content with competitive leaderboards until both the CP Cap and catch up mechanic were implemented.

The next is gear deferental. Perhaps ZOS felt updating those activities to VR16 too soon before many players had the chance to acquire VR16 loadouts would prove too challenging for the average player.

Finally there is balance. It could be that updating those instances conflicted with the current balance of the game or the coming balance. If VR ranks are to be removed (I believe they are since Orsinium was originally slated to be VR17-18) perhaps it would be simplier to address that issue after their removal or after a coming balance update, which I understand to be next up after Orsinium.

Greed is mostly transparent, but since I can come up with what I deem as legitimate reasons why past content was not updated. I don't feel that it was solely done out of greed.
