I think there may be something wrong with my game between 1stPerson & 3rd Person

So I am a Lvl7 and just soloing at the moment so I play classic 1st person most of the time. But I have noticed that in 3rd person it takes longer to cover area and get from one point to another compared when in 1st Person. Has anyone else noticed this?
I have the options sliders all the way to the right - and I did a controller button & stick shortcut (which I forget and so can't reverse it) and used this to zoom my guy right out.

The lower your field of view is the slower you "appear" to be moving... you aren't actually moving slower it is an optical illusion.

Are you saying that you run faster in 1st person?

First person view in ESO is pretty bad compared to lets say Skyrim. The FoV(even all the way up) is still dreadful, the animations of weapons and the limited visibility of spell animations makes it feel pretty bad, imo.

3rd person view is the way to go, game was designed around it.

Make sure you adjust your FOV slider for each view. I have noticed that if its off, you think you are moving slower. It's like the mirror on the right side of the car that says Objects in this Mirror are not where you think they are. I forget if it says closer or farther away, the mirror is too far away to read it....

Second the optical illusion. I thought that at first too then I adjusted from 3rd person viewing way back to viewing just behind my character and it definitely makes a difference to how it looks. I keep up with my group just fine so I know I am running the same speed. I just adjust it to how comfortable it feels when I am playing.

Oooo meant o also ask - does anyone know the controller shortcut for the extra FOV moving\setting?

@Nestor - Buddy it is that the objects appear farther away than they really are in sideview mirrors due to their convexity to allow for a wider field of vision around the sides of the vehicle.
Though Meatloaf totally made up twaddle with objects in the Rearview mirror appearing Closer :D

On two of my cars, I put an applique mirror on that is flat as I adjust my mirrors properly (side mirrors should show you whats on the sides of the car not a different angle on what is directly behind it) so that is why I forgot what that idiot message says. I guess it comes from having a 67 Camaro as a first car that had flat mirrors on it and learning how to use them properly.

So does anyone know the controller shortcut for the additional FOV changing?

Plus I am now trying to play in 3rd person and not too zoomed out as like to see my dude, but is it me but do the players all look a little like they are running on ice, holding down the stick to sprint looks like a lot of sprinting effort is going in and not really getting anywhere lol :D

The physics has something to do with the movement after stopping and the visual leg disconnect from the ground (the character is moving the legs are just being animated) I have found on the PC if I switch to Walk mode just before stopping the characters stops on a dime and gives change, and moves more like the legs show you they should.

As for the FOV, it is probably found in the game options, if this is even a thing you can change on the consoles. I think it is, but I have only poked around in the PS4 menus once and that was months ago.

So, the controller shortcut is the one that gets you into the settings menu.

No pal, I know of the FOV slider in the settings obviously, but there is an actual controller button combo that you can use whilst playing that adds even more FOV variation........ I am going to have to try and dig up the thread I first read it on a few weeks ago.

Ahh, did not know that. Makes sense as you want to see the game when making these changes. Wonder if there is a keyboard shortcut for the PC?

If on Xbox hold down on the Dpad and adjust it with your right stick at the same time. It's probably the same thing on PS as well

Yeah I just found the post on reddit where I found out about this

I am now trying to decide between a close just behind my guy view or a really zoomed out one........ so far for the movement between the two ways of FOV I have so far found this and all you console users can test it out both PS and XB1 but if you use the DPad Zoom out (which I did like 3 weeks ago and forgot) and then use the settings slider to have the closest FOV it really messes the animation up with movement especially where with weapons sheather and sprinting - looks like running really fast but not getting anywhere for the effort!!!

So I have experimented and if you ever want to use the Dpad n stick adjustment then my suggestion is to zoom your character right in so the next angel-touch switched between 1st & 3rd - then use the settings slider to pick your 3rd person distance.

But yes seriously try using the DPad to zoom all the way out and set the slider in the settings to zoom all the way in, sheath your weapons and have a walk run and sprint around........ looks ridiculous!!!

FYi I have DPad zoomed all the way in so I can see the back of my head stuck to the left of the screen and then I used the settings slider to push him back out so I have a FOV around my guy to see red circles side attackers etc just enough but still can appreciate the detail of my character

One thing to note, there is a camera offset that can be adjusted, on the PC for sure, but I think it's on the consoles. Some people like it to be over the right shoulder, or the left or the head. If you go right or left, it can skew the targeting reticule slightly to one side or the other. I prefer centered over the characters head myself.

Zoomed all the way out, this offset is not apparent, zoom in closer to your character and the offset is more pronounced. You will find something you like, just know you can make changes to the camera offset along with the zoom and FOV.

How do I change the offset then as I have the right zoom now and it looks great and moves nicely but my character offset is to the left and I would center it more if it is possible
