if anything, the cap should be 300!

Since the avarege Player have 93 (official zos info) 501 is allready to high.
so why dont decrees the cap to 360? so we just can complet one 120 perk?

This number would put the cap at breakpoints for the passives in our trees and not somewhere in the middle. with 585, I can complete the 120 passive in a tree and the 75 in another. A 501 cap, puts us at some strange point in the middle. It would be nice if future cap lifts would take this into factor as well. Just my opinion.
It's not a gamebreaking thing for me, but it would be nice to keep those passives when they're so close to the cap.

I know players that have never grinder and have over 600 CP, playing 15 hrs a week. Just because you are taking your sweet time at earning CP (which by the way I'm not judging you on), doesn't mean others should. The real problem is the fact that only killing monsters earns you xp...Xp should be given for all in game activities - quest achievements, harvesting, fishing, crafting, etc....this way the playstyles to earn xp would be much more diverse. And overall low CP + Skill will always trump High CP and no skill...

Not sure if that means actually played or logged in for a few hours to check things out.

I agree, I bet a lot of the CP whiners are players that spend hours fishing.... making no xp whatsoever... so we pay for their lack of understanding. I dont grind or play 50 hours a week and I have over 400 CP. I also dont waste my valuable play time chating in guild chat about my dog that went to the vet today, or looking at the pretty scenery in the game, or like I stated above - spending hours upon hours fishing and making no xp whatsoever...
I made $292,000 in 2014, if you made $30,000 should I get 'nerfed' so you can catch up? this generation is doomed I say...

That number is inaccurate then because I have other accounts I log into for sending my main account mail items and that character never does anything but still logs in and I would imagine I'm not the only one with other log ins

So you are the reason the cap is so low!
It would take a lot of multiple accounts to skew the results by that much.
They may not have counted it anyway. Were your alt accounts vet ranked?
They never go into details, but it would be reasonable to only count accounts that were logged in for at least 30 hrs over the month.
I would love to see a graph though. Just to see the distribution. It seems there are a lot of people in the 200-300 range at the time they put out those numbers.
Here, let's put this to rest right now.

The averages I posted were calculated from active accounts that have at least 1 VR character. (i.e. - can start earning CP) An account is only considered active if it has been logged into in the past 30 days and played the game for a period of time.

In my opinion it would make sense to put the cap at 585cp for reasons mentioned in the op.
