2h sword now giving greater damage than DW sword?

Is a 2h sword supposed to give more tooltip damage than dual wielding swords? I was under the impression that it was the other way around. Yet when I checked on my character, my SA was stronger on my 2h bar than it was on my dw bar. This was done using basic v14 swords with no traits, enchantments or set bonuses on them. Can anyone confirm if this was an intended IC change or if it's been this way since the beginning of time?

✭At the moment yes, Dual Wield's "Twin Blade and Blunt" passive is currently broken for when swords are equipped. In the Imperial City PTS the 5% damage was somehow changed into 5% bonus weapon / spell damage, which is extremely weak compared to a 5% bonus damage. The Two Handed passive still provides a flat 5% bonus, and therefor is why you see more damage with a 2h sword instead of dual wielding swords. I and many others have bug reported this but haven't gotten any response or indication to a fix coming. Seemingly it was a stealth nerf that Zeni has been hush about, but who knows.Old member of The Order of Mundus, Mostly Harmless, Hostile, and Genesis Elite. Avid theorycrafter. Herald to competitive stamina DPS pre 1.5. How far we've come!

It's not jumping on the bandwagon but having proper information that is vaguely displayed in-game. Who wouldn't want to do the most damage possible just by equipping a specific weapon? The only bad thing is that staves are outclassed by melee weapon for magicka builds due to how poorly designed the passives are currently.Edited by Hiero_Glyph on October 19, 2015 1:38AM1 -

@Gilliamtherogue Thanks for the informative response. I really hope this was an accident on their part. I have spent a lot of gold and v16 materials getting the set I want together and I chose dw because of it's damage bonus.It didn't just suddenly become better, it was already there from the start.

Sadly, ZOS has done similar things in the past by making the Dunmer fire resistance all but pointless compared to the Breton's spell resistance. They honestly don't care that they literally screw over some builds just becaue they don't understand the math behind the changes they make,1 -

But what I'm understanding is yes 2H has the greatest damage but duel wield deals more since it's 2 weapons and each weapon has it's own damage or something..... Ugh just let the math guys explain it.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I would also submit it depends on which sets you're running. If you're running any crafted set, I'd imagine dual wield's more valuable since you can craft both swords as two pieces of a 5-set. Not entirely true. There was thread by @Asayre that looked at both passives and saw that the 2H wins over duel wield (not sure if over a certain threshold) even with the duel wield's torugs 2-set spell dmg for instance. I can confirm it depends on the build you're using. While most people only lose the 129 spell damage bonus of Torugs 2 piece in a min maxed term, which two handed's damage would still out weigh, SOME high end builds still prefer dual wield. @Nifty2g actually runs a setup that has dual wield out shining greatsword.Edited by Gilliamtherogue on October 19, 2015 5:30AMOld member of The Order of Mundus, Mostly Harmless, Hostile, and Genesis Elite.
