Don't quote me on this, but I think they nixed cloaks and capes because the movement animations were causing framerate drops. If you consider how many people wanting a cloak or cape running around fluttering in the breeze and shifting while jumping, it's a lot of ram to render all that.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to have a cloak for my NB and a cape on my DK. They even show a sneak thief character on the cover art with one. But I just think they discarded the idea when they had massive graphics issues while playtesting. Like I said, I could be and hope I'm wrong, but I just don't think it's in the cards. If I am wrong...then @ZOS, why haven't you given us cloaks yet?!

excuse me...if cloacks are made with bones (its a thing in 3d animation, the same thing thats used for animating character model) animation wont be that CPU heavy...only free falling capes with Cloth technology is a bit more cpu intensive..

also disable capes in pvp and done if thats the biggest issue -.-

p.s. this isnt an opinion this is a fact..im not that good in 3d modelling and animating but i have learned the theory side of it aloooott

I don't think anyone wants a stiff cape or cloak, but I'd take one anyway since there's no alternative atm. I'm not saying you're incorrect or anything. I'm not a programmer...never been one...never will be. I'm just parroting what I've heard others say on the matter.

However, seeing as how most of the armor details (floating pauldrons, flexible steel plate, etc.) can look atrocious, the idea of a free flowing cape doesn't seem in the cards. I'm sure that it has to do with the megaservers and not enough is being processed client-side. Games like destiny can do cloaks and armor really well, but that's because there's a limited amount of stuff going on and only 16 players/instance.

If Capes were brought in you'd have tons if people running round humming the superman theme and others jumping out of ally ways shouting "I'm Batman!". Would be funny the first 2 or 3 times, then as irritating a daggerfall voice chat is when school kicks out. (xbox).
