Character Profiles or "Armories"

Before I started playing ESO a few months ago, I pleayed another game which I won't mention as the focus here is ESO and only ESO. One of the ideas that I leraned from there and I would like to propose to the Devs and also get feed back from all of you guys that play ESO regularly and on top tier level is the concept of Character Profiles or "Armories".

Let me explain it, take a Nightblade as an example. A nightblade is a class (as most of the others) that if you know it well can play as the three main roles: DPS, Healer and Tank. Personally, the fact that whenever I need to change the role I play I need to respec and fix my attributes is so expensive in the long run that it doesn't allow for the constant versatility that I could achieve with this class. This is where the idea of an Armorie (or whatever name they would call it) is that you could be able to save this skill and attribute settings to be able to switch between them as it is needed. Obviously, ESO is a game for us, but for Zenimax it is a business so this has to be viable business wise or else it could lead to a loss of profits. The idea would be, for example, to create an item in the crown store that you need to purchase to be able to have 1 extra profile, and to need to buy more if you wish to have more than one. I'm not a business expert so I don't know if this could be viable but to me it seems like something that would greatly improve the issue of the current "DPS fever" that ESO has and if done correctly would also be viable on their business side.

What do you guys/ladies think about this idea? I would appreciate all the feedback you can think of to see if it is something worth looking into.

Thanks in advance and enjoy your adventures in Tamriel!!

Yes, this is one of the conveniences from DCUO that would be nice to have in ESO.

It would be a bit bizarre feeling to start (let's say a vDSA) as a DPS, be a tank in the middle stages only to end up as a healer in the last stage. A good part of a (MMO)RPGs is that they create a connection between the player and his character. Being able to switch your roles so rapidly would only complicate integrity aspects within the game. The costs for respeccing are relatively high for a reason.

I don't think this is neccesary. Eso model is already quiet flexible with the builds. There are enough skill points to full all the skills you need, and you can swap between a tank and a healer setup only by changing your gear.

I don't think this would "fit" ESO's aesthetic, but since there are shrines in the game that allow such things I guess it could make sense, but let me suggest a slightly different concept.

How about a Crown Store Talisman of Magnus to which players can attach their currently assigned skills and attributes. Then the player can reassign their skills and attributes to whatever they want by using the already established in-game shrines. Then, if they put on the talisman, their skills and attributes become what they were before.
    • Players should be able to buy as many talismans as they wish.
    • Players should also be able to rename those talismans so they tell the difference between them if they own multiple.
    • Talismans, once imprinted upon, cannot be re-imprinted upon.
    • Talismans are bound to the character.

Additionally, once we have player housing we should be given Outfitting Mannequins, that allows players to equip a mannequin with all possible gear and weapons (including the above Talisman of Magnus) so a player can create a gear, skill and attribute set. The player could then simply walk up to the Outfitting Mannequin and just swap equipment and gear with the mannequin. If the mannequin is empty, the player just gets naked. Easy enough.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Personally I dislike easy respeccing... I much prefer people being forced to -think- about heir character and build it to be what they want it to be for every occasion then rebuild them to the job at hand. And games where easy respec is possible have never been all that enjoyable for me... all that "Oh, wait a minute, I have to respec before we do that dungeon" is annoying, all that "why don't you respec to healer now?" is more annoying...
I'll be quite happy is ESO keeps avoiding this kind of inconvinience for me...

I agree with you @TheShadowScout...but I still think this convenience item would be beneficial to the majority of players. I'd probably never use it myself. My character is who they are, not just some souless vessel that can be anything.

Irony of that statement is noted.

I'd love the ability to save "specs" (skills, morphs, attributes and CP) but with the caveat that you can't swap after entering a dungeon or trial and in PVP you can only swap at a home keep.

    you dont really need that.
there are so many skillpoints in this game to completely do all tank, dd, healing skills.
on top of that at least 3 more crafting skills.

Thats were i am atm, and i dont even have all skyshards done (nor cadwell gold or "bronce")

I would really like easier and cheaper switching between specs. And to those saying that it's a matter of switching gear, it's not. Going from magiblade to stamblade is not just putting on leather and daggers. It's remorphing skills and changing your attributes. One thing I miss from the launch meta was all points into health, that way it was easier at least to try different roles.

Then they would lose money on respec scrolls, so you won't see this feature in ESO. That is one thing about DCUO, they allowed for respecing through paying with in-game gold at respec stations and they never sold respec tokens in their marketplace. So when they added Armories, they weren't losing money because they were never charging real money for skill resets but they made a ton of money selling armories.

Thankfully, in regards to loadouts, there are PC addons that allow for quick loadout changes, which is a godsend considering how often I swap loadouts while leveling a new character (each time I turn in a quest) to get XP posted on specific skills or skill lines.
