Group Rage!!!! ... 'cause I can't stop myself.

@ZOS_GinaBruno ; @ZOS_RichLambert :wink:

The game is an MMO. Check.

Because it's an MMO, some instances require you be in a group. Check.

This requirement is enforced by offering no solo options and making the dungeon impossible to solo at the appropriate level. Check.

Group tool doesn't work, in part, because no one uses it (I asked in chat if anyone uses it and got two LOLs for my effort). Check.

So where does that leave me?

I spent an hour today trying to find a freakin group to run Wayrest Sewers. I'm level 27 and I don't need a gold, silver or other pledge. I just need to run the freakin sewer to leave the zone (Zenimax, you do remember you made the game linear, right?). But you have no effective way of grouping. None. So all I can do is stand in the freakin swamp outside the sewer and spam Zone Chat (which I hate to do) until people are tired of hearing from me (which I completely understand).

But Riza, join a guild! I belong to four and no one was available to run Wayrest with me. No one. Come back tonight, there's be more people? What if I can't? What if I'm doing something else.

Well, Riza, we don't know what to say? Everyone's in Cyrodill or the IC? Fair enough, but that still doesn't solve my freakin problem!!!

Deep breath.

Okay, let me try to explain - seriously. You want to make content for PvP and Groups. Yes, I get that. I really, really do. And if there were tons of groups available, that would be okay. But I've been trying for two days to do this damn sewer and I cannot find a group. I know you're reworking the grouping tool, but simply opening it to all three factions gives three times the options for groups, right? And in my world, 3 x 0 still equals 0.

Please ... just give me the option to run the dungeon solo if I want to. Please. Because you're wasting my freaking time right now.

/end rage

    No you don't.

Group dungeon stories have nothing to do with the Main Quest or Alliance Story so you don't have to worry about not going linear. These dungeons have their own stories/storylines

But there's going to be another Undaunted dungeon in the next zone, right? Wouldn't I need to run this sewer before I hit that dungeon?

And the longer I wait, the harder it gets to find a group that will be close to my level. If I group with players who are under my level, then I don't get drops. That's what happened with this character when she ran Spindle.

You can always come back later for the group dungeons, they have no impact on the main story line and are not required to move to the next zone.

As someone that absolutely has to complete all the things in one region before moving on. I did always dread the time when I had to do the Group Dungeon, it was always the last thing to do even if I was queuing whilst doing everything else. Rarely would the Grouping Tool form a group and thus I more often than not had to go to Wayrest and shout for any level of players to get it done.

It's even more apparent when you hit the Veteran Ranks.

OP: As others have said, you can just skip it. If you're trying to do the completionist thing, come back later.

But this is a problem I've had since day one, mostly because I don't join guilds or hang with dungeon groups. If a guild isn't working for you, and spamming chat doesn't help either, then you are official SOL. Move on.

A lot of players just run the main quest. I stopped trying to do everything on my second run. Just do the main and the guilds and move on. Everything else is pretty much skippable.

I understand and actually there are 3 (one for each faction) at each level range. I made the mistake of passing them up on a couple of my characters as it was hard to find a group. Even my guilds had done them so much no one was interested and I hate pugs running through as fast as possible...if you can get one.

To this day those characters (now VR14 and up) have uncompleted dungeons and probably always will.

You can always run them during pledges.

I kinda skipped both Volenfell as well as Blackheart Haven, and the 3 last ones of the other factions because I couldn't find a group at that time either. But when I hit that V1 level, I could play with ppl from my guild or others who needed to run a pledge.

You can run the dungeon quest alongside the pledge, and get the Skill Point with the pledge rewards. It's actually easier that way.

I've said before that Group Dungeons should be the best form of exp. instead of grinding mobs in the open world. Most of them are fun and having them as the best way to gain exp would re-populated the Grouping Tool when it does get fixed or improved upon.

I know it doesn't solve the problem but what I did was wait until level 45 when I start getting Undaunted pledges. Usually there are people hanging around the area where the pledges are given looking to group up. It will take longer to do them all but I find it the easiest way to do the Group Dungeons.

Okay, I've read through the responses and maybe I don't understand how the Undaunted quest line works. Some questions:

    1. Are the quests sequential? If not, then how do them out of order?

    2. What is a pledge? Is it a different dungeon or the same one?

    3. If I've never run the sewers before, can I run a pledge?

    4. I really like the story and the quests in this game. So how do I come back and do this dungeon later?

    Thanks for any help.

    Some answers for you :)
    1. No - one undaunted dungeon quest is entirely unrelated to any of the others for different dungeons. They can be done in any order at any level (they scale up from the minimum level, so you can always come back later)
    2. It's an incentive to go and do one of the group dungeons - killing the bosses. It's a separate repeatable quest with rewards based on the bosses you killed (and for the vet pledge, based on the way you kill one of them), and can be done concurrently with the one-time story quest for the dungeon.
    3. Yes - you just have to be level 45 to do a pledge.
    4. The dungeon will scale to the level of the group leader, so you can come back at VR16 and do it for the first time at VR16, with VR16 enemies and rewards (well, some of the rewards only scale to VR14) if you like.

1 you can do them in any order
2 a daily quest to beat all the bosses, veteran ones have special conditions, same dungeon you would run normally.
3 Just enter the sewers and come back out then you will be full undaunted don't even have to kill anything(works with fungal grotto)
4 teleport strait to the dungeon as if it where a wayshrine.

I just hit l30....and despite my best efforts, I've run Fungal Grotto and Wayrest Sewers.

And Wayrest was only because my Fungal group wanted to keep going.

I'm seriously thinking of taking up a league mate on his offer to duo the dungeons with me...ill have group lead so everything scales to me and I'll just follow his vet character through.

@OP I appreciate the dsire to complete all before moving on but as group dungeons will scale to the level of the group leader it is not a huge issue if you come back to this in a few levels time, you will still get a level appropriate challenge and drops. That being said I also appreciate the group tool is deeply flawed and makes it harder to get groups together than it should be.

Group Instances like Wayrest Sewers are completely optional. What are they there for? This...

    1. Undaunted XP.
    2. Achievements.
    3. A Skill Point and Item Reward from the quest or quests in them.
    4. Deadlands Adept Title from City of Ash stuff.
    5. Fun and/or Challenges.
    6. As of Lv45, Undaunted Pledges which help #1 on the list more.

Are these dungeons a requirement for anything at all? Completion. Beyond that? Not a damn thing. Also it isn't Zenimax's fault people are the way they are and only prefer to run these things with friends or other people they consider "competent and not weak". Don't blame the game, blame the metagame!
