Oh wait, I thought you were just joking around... Yeah it makes it so that when you loot one dead mob you get the loot from all of the nearby dead mobs that dropped loot instead of having to go and loot each of them individually.
So yeah, it consolidates the area loot.

✭Pretty self-explanatory. When you kill a mob and each individual enemy in that mob has different items, when you open up the loot window for one enemy, it shows all the available loot (consolidates) into a single window. If you turned that option off you'd have to check each individual enemy to check their respective loot.0 -
