Yep. ESO is dying, just like it has been since the day it launched on the PC/Mac. I mean, it's totally dying. Or, as Dr. McCoy wouldn't say, "She's a goner, Jim. She's a goner!"

    *sigh*

How is it dying exactly? It seems to be quite populated.

I don't think it's going to die on console any time particularly soon, it's just thinning out. ESO has an identity crisis, and not everyone is going to put up with that, thus some players are leaving.

Player population is going to be in a state of flux until ZOS decides between immersive single player and mmorpg. Right now they are burning the candle at both ends. Console suffers more from this because they lack the addons of PC to pull more toward a fully flushed MMO. Anyone wanting a more traditional MMO on console is left out, as telling them "just play PC"', isn't a vaild answer. In the same vain communication methods on console are lacking, so it's hard to find players who are interested in the same content, and this affects both parties adversely.

DCUO lived like 2-3 year after PC, and still does, so dont worry. Console was best thing ever happened to this game, folks just dont realize it yet. Im 100% sure PC dies before consoles. Also in Defiance Xbox was by far most populated platform.

That's funny as my brother works there and when I stopped in there last week to just say hi I noticed there was a large stack of ESO Xbox One copies under the counter.

I asked him if the game was doing "that badly" He looked me in the eye and laughed and said "Man that game is doing terrible" I said "That's funny because the DLC just came out I would have thought ESO would be selling like crazy"

Again this was just his store. Only ZOS have the real numbers of what is going on with the population. I will say that the zone traffic is DOWN a lot! Also I can say that all except one of my guilds are not very active.

My friends list that had over 80+ ESO players is down to 3 hard cores and maybe 5 players I might see on ESO 1-2 times a week. Most of those people have went back to Destiny or are playing Neverwinter now.

I played on PC since launch and trust me when I say it is so, so much more populated on Xbox One.

Honestly I couldn't care less about the PC Add-Ons we don't have. Zenimax has stated they are working on some additional UI though that relates to them.

There is nothing to be worried about, it's just a falsified doomsday prophecy. People unhappy with certain aspects of the game are saying it is going to die just to discourage others so don't let it fool you.

@Funkopotamus I disagree, I think pc gaming is bigger than ever, hence the Alienware alpha, long gone are the days that you need an office to put a pc in, and a monitor and keyboard and setups, you can get a pc, plug it into the TV in the living room and use a controller.

And I don't think anyone could ever argue a console is anywhere near as powerful as a built pc. I recently purchased bf 4 on my pc that I used to have on console, and the graphics are on a whole new level, not to mention frame rates, mods to keep old games updated etc etc

You mean the junk boxes that my company issued laptops are better then? GTX 700/800M Series GPU are not going to last much longer in the market. Your better off building your own mini gaming rig with an AMD APU, at least this way down the road you can upgrade stuff and add in a dedicated GPU ect.

Alienware Alpha is a piece of junk for people who don't know any better.

Ofc the game is doing badly i mean why should you go gameshop to buy them when can buy ESO to both PS4 and Xbox One in microsoftstore and playstationsstore serious i dont know when the last time i every went to gameshop to buy a game i think it was back in 2004 when i buy WoW that was last time i buy game in gameshop.

Today you can buy game online 24/7 from place like steam, microsoftstore and playstationsstore why do you need to go and buy game in gameshop??

Zenimax drove off TONS of customers when they decided to practically not update the PC released version at all for almost a year, in order to get the console versions pushed out.
Content updates every 6 weeks were promised at PC launch. Not to mention that they swore that the subscription-only model was here to stay.
What we actually received was almost year of "Sorry, no content yet, the whole company is working on the console versions". As a bonus we were given a cash store with a dozen re-skinned "limited" mounts for $20+ a crack, and a subscription plan that is laughable for the "bonuses" for subscribing.
It's a shame. Console catering drove this game off the rails, and pushing DLC for cash every 2 months now won't repair the damage.

One is probably more than is necessary. Game stores today are about as relevant as horse drawn carriage makers. Today, their most prominent role appears to be spreading rumors about how games are doing based on store sales of physical media. It has been a long time since that metric was relevant, by itself.

Uhhhh because it Gamestop? I cannot remember the last time i went there to get a new game when i can get it used for cheaper. Lol

I can't remember the last time I went to gamestop. I can buy it new cheaper at walmart or target than used at gamestop. Gamestop is just a huge rip off. 40% depreciation after one week. F that.

ESO dying on consoles? Prolly not.

Certain factions becoming pretty much dead while others are lively? Prolly.

I can see on the ol' Xbone NA servers that DC will be pretty much dead since we already have a painfully low amount of players (I blame Skyrim fanboys) while the flooded with players AD and EP will be lively for ages.

Why are you concerned about this?

Yeh that's kind of what I was wondering lol

Nothing's shutting down anytime soon. Relax, go play.

Until its announced how many subscribers there are, these concerns are real. 1 subscriber = 1 paying account. Not 1 account with 8 alts making a fake 8 subscribers.

The reason the group finder sucks is not because it doesn't work.. There's no one playing this game. Opening it up to all factions will be nice, but co-ordinated PvP cheating will reach an all time high. With no gamemasters on console it wont matter regardless.

It doesn't take a genius to see what's going on here. Real numbers or these people are raising a legitimate concern.

This game does not require a subscription... and I don't understand what "1 'paying' account with 8 alts making a fake subscriber means?"

You can't just say "that's logic" and expect it to stand in it's own right...

And are you suggesting that teams of players coordinating in pvp is cheating? Isn't that the very definition of team or faction based play?

As far as 'real numbers' go, we won't truly know till ZoS officially says. We do know that several million copies of ESO were sold for both console platforms...

Also there is a cash shop, many people spend $$ w/o subbing.

@nimander99 He means people on one faction like AD with a friend in EP bringing his allies to a secluded spot over and over again just to get swarmed by AD (the guys friends) as he just looks on...preparing to get more of his allies out there to die.

Also he'd tell the AD guys exactly where his allies are sneaking and stuff like that.

I've seen it happen, nothing you can do to stop it other than telling people not to "help that guy fight."

If ESO dies on the PS4 then I want the ability to transfer my account from the PS4 to the PC. I've only played since June but I've committed a lot of time and money to this game and I don't want it to just die. I didn't really think of there not being servers for this game for the consoles about 3-4 years from now... Le sigh.

Honestly I think the pc population will die before the consoles. There are more console players than pc players. I mean it's not a fact but based off the knowledge that there were like twice the amount of console versions sold than the pc version and that's there are two different consoles and only one pc race (so to speak) I would imagine the console population lasting longer than pc but who knows. Also, pc has a lot of other mmo's to play and console only have a select few and most of them suck.

Naah.PC players outweigh the console players. I only know one console player.Everyone else plays on PC.I know there are a lot who do use consoles right now,but MMOs are mostly PC games anyway. PC game usage will stay for as long as there are computers.

I don't see it dying on the consoles anytime soon. It's just that it tends to get overshadowed by FF14:ARR.(and to a far lesser extent, games like Warframe, Neverwinter, and Destiny.) Square pretty much learned from their experiences and tend to be more open to their playerbase.

Did you not read the first line on the third paragraph?

Also buying online and not at a "Box store" like gamestop is not ALWAYS the best option and is a good way to get ripped off..Especially if you are buying a game that has been out for a few weeks/months... I have started to buy games on the Microsoft store and then checked the price at Game Stop and it will be $10-$20 dollars cheaper to get in the car and buy it.

No, number puffing. If someone is a paying sub with 8 alts, some like to say thats 8 subs.

Also cheating in the sense of boosting. Like tac inserts in black ops2, except here you make cross faction friends and meet in a spot to boost AP and emperor.

Correct, but we are the cash cow. ESO isn't making their money on NEW game sales. The monthly subs are what pays the bills.

This isn't enough. If I play on a team and I have a player who likes to take the last shot in a NBA game but he keeps missing he does not get the ball. I have no time for a cute picture or lip service. He gets in the gym, he starts shooting %80, then he proves himself. Until then he's a scrub. No one likes scrubs
