If ESO Console Dies

If ESO dies on the PS4 then I want the ability to transfer my account from the PS4 to the PC. I've only played since June but I've committed a lot of time and money to this game and I don't want it to just die. I didn't really think of there not being servers for this game for the consoles about 3-4 years from now... Le sigh.

It does suck that if they stop their servers you can't play the game at all anymore.
Play on PS4 I do like the game, I just feel it could be a lot better and would like to feel like the devolpers actually care about the game and not just making money

I got it for PS4 because I have friends that play it on there, and my wife and myself both have PS4s so I got her playing too. And now that I started playing it some of my friends have quit playing it, but I really like it. I don't want to rebuild my empire on PC. I want to play on PS4 until the servers are no longer supported and then I want to move to PC.

I doubt it will die anytime soon. It just slowly fade away. According to my friends at GameStop, it's one of the most popular used games to buy.

Notice that they made it very clear that no-one buys it new. They buy it used. Hmm...

I honestly think that the PS4 and Xbox one servers will be live as long as the PC servers are... or well into the PS5's lifecycle.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

If/when they turn off the consol servers I'm sure they'll offer some kind of pc transfer if they keep those servers going. For a "modest" fee of course.

The only way they'll know this for sure is if ZoS comes out and says they'll do that. There is really no guarantees for this guy. The main reason I didn't consider PS4/Xbox and continued with PC are on a multiple level:
    1) I like being able to mod my gear, type chat, and use teamspeak all while being able to flip to a web browser or run music.
    2) I had already built up a base of friends on the PC
    3) If I were going to play console, I would have wanted to keep my pc characters, and I didn't feel like starting over.

I suggest you write to the Devs and see if you can get someone who will answer this. Maybe @ZOS_GinaBruno can help you?

That's funny as my brother works there and when I stopped in there last week to just say hi I noticed there was a large stack of ESO Xbox One copies under the counter.

I asked him if the game was doing "that badly" He looked me in the eye and laughed and said "Man that game is doing terrible" I said "That's funny because the DLC just came out I would have thought ESO would be selling like crazy"

Again this was just his store. Only ZOS have the real numbers of what is going on with the population. I will say that the zone traffic is DOWN a lot! Also I can say that all except one of my guilds are not very active.

My friends list that had over 80+ ESO players is down to 3 hard cores and maybe 5 players I might see on ESO 1-2 times a week. Most of those people have went back to Destiny or are playing Neverwinter now.

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

@Deheart Only on consoles, PC requires a code to activate that can only be used once console does not require that, only the disk.

This game has been going for years already on PC and so far the playerbase has not diminished enough to cut into their profit margin nor do I expect it will anytime soon. It's been about 4 months now since ESO released to consoles so stop expecting doomsday so soon already and just play the damn game. Personally, I would still play the game if I wanted to even if the servers were ghost towns.

Honestly I think the pc population will die before the consoles. There are more console players than pc players. I mean it's not a fact but based off the knowledge that there were like twice the amount of console versions sold than the pc version and that's there are two different consoles and only one pc race (so to speak) I would imagine the console population lasting longer than pc but who knows. Also, pc has a lot of other mmo's to play and console only have a select few and most of them suck.

I have said it before but I still just do not understand how consoles could ever sustain an mmo for very long. Granted I know there are a few that have lasted a while but it just seems like the wrong demographic for mmo gaming in general. I'm sure there are some hardcore mmo'ers on console but overall, it seems like consoles are more suited to buy it, beat it, move on. Personally that's how I console game, and out of a large group of friends and acquaintances who game, I don't know of any who mmo on console. Maybe the demographic is changing though and I just haven't witnessed it yet in my circle.

Not a clue. That's just what they're saying. I thought it was linked to your account. I suppose you can buy the disc used but you still need to have an ESO account?

    I wondered the same thing.

Use an FYI to everyone, I emailed zos about possible console to pc transfers as multiple people have mentioned it in other threads.

I myself would like to move to pc, why? Because I've only just moved home and got enough space for a pc which I've bought, and I've always enjoyed mmo's on pcs previously.

I'm loving eso, and I'll continue to play for years to come.

But if given the option I would happily pay the fee to transfer to pc.

I recieved a response to post on here, and basically see how many would be interested, then get it passed on to one of the mobs to see if it's feeseable.

I don't think it is possible to link a disk to an account as the disk contains only the data. On console games they may require you to play it with a 3rd party site (steam) and use a code to gain access to play it. but due to (I think I may be wrong here) legal issues with third party programs and consoles providers TOS this method is not feasible with consoles.

Now I am not exactly a physics major or anything, but maybe you can show exactly how April 2014- Oct-9-2015 is in any way close to "This game has been going for years already on PC "....

In that short time ESO has trashed the Subscription Fee from lack of a player base willing to pay for it.
It has tried and failed to restructure the VR system and still struggling with exactly what to do with Vet Ranks.
It has thrown a broken CP system at he [layer base that has done nothing, but speed up the death of this games community. I mean if it was such a great system and the community was thriving and growing because of it then they wouldn't be trying to put a cap on it..

Now I like ESO, but there are things ZOS are doing wrong. I just want to keep things in perspective here..

Saying this game has been around for "Years" is just ... well..... a lie!

How does the number of copies sold affect how many people are still playing/will be playing in the future? If we are to believe what people are saying, many of those in that console number have moved on. No such claims, or not as many, are being made pc side. PC mmo's have a long history of lingering for many years, whether they are uber successful or not.

Well EQOA for the PS2 lasted for over 12 years.. Even after the PS3 came out people were still playing it.. AND IT EVEN CHARGED A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FEE!

If the right company is behind a console MMO it will last for years.

That's true. Like I said, perhaps the demographic is slowly changing. Just seems to be easier to make one last on pc. Perhaps it's just a matter of sheer volume of titles that release there vs console, and not so much dependent on the platform.
