Don't understand some reasoning in this thread. Who cares how you got your CP? If you have more than most players, it's an imbalance. A seasonal cap is no solution, but better than what we have now and it might make the game a bit more enjoyable while it is dieing anyway.

well, 1. It's all the players that are baffled you earned more CP than them that accuse us of grinding to get our CP. I personally don't care if I run into the 3 guys in the game that actually have 1K cp and grinded to get it, but for some reason, even though it's such a small percent of effected players, everyone that is sub 300 wants those ahead of them punished and thinks no one could have gotten ahead of them without 'grinding' - the same mentality that makes them think every loss they have in a fight is b/c they don't have enough CP.

and 2. Because if you did get past the cap already as I am by just playing the game (I still have a life, I don't play 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, etc) then something feels wrong about the cap. Caps like that should be to stop grinders and the like from getting way far ahead, not to punish players that just happened to get that many points playing the game normally.

I don't usually talk numbers, but here's some to chew on with regards to the number of champion points players have. The number of players that are going to be affected by the cap is very, very small.

Wasn't everyone pre 1.6 PvPing at max level at V10, V12, and V14? Won't everyone now again PvP at max level with 500 CP?

What is the problem here? I ASKED!!!! WTF IS THE ISSUE HERE!?

I was on the verge of quitting due to lack of progression/content in november early december last year. I´ve played minimal amounts of time and only picked flowers/dueled until the release of 1.6 which finally introduced longterm progression to eso.

Now they want to cap that at an amount that i´ve reached with normally playing (pvping) the game over a month ago.

I´m looking at months of no character progression of any form again. The result is: When this goes live i´m not going to continue to play the game.

    Pretty much this.

I actually *Did* quit the game for 3 months at the end of 1.5 because the game was stale and boring (and laggy). PvP hadn't changed in a year and I'd already done everything. I was Emperor for almost a month and had my fill of every aspect of PvP. I came back for 1.6 because it brought a fundamental change to the game. No softcaps and the CP system. I've always loved the concept of CPs....but I hated the implementation of them. There are many ways out there they could have headed the current issue of CPs off at the pass but they chose to address the problem too late. So now we're dealing with yet another ZoS bandaid.

I'm not going to say whether or not I'll quit, because I always try and test something before I pass judgement but it's really not looking good. I'd say the probability is extremely high since I'll be at CP cap by launch I'll play the content for a week until Starcraft II and Fallout 4 comes out and then play the hell out of those until I'm bored. Whether or not I come back will highly depend on ZoS's future changes but if you've ever played an MMO seriously you know that the addiction is the primary reason that people keep playing them. Taking a long break is the easiest way to break that addiction, and if the game itself has nothing to draw you back you don't come back.

As i've said. what Drew me to this game was the Uncapped CP system which differentiated it from other MMO's i've played and hated. that and 1.6 in general.... 1.6 is gone and i loath 2.1 and now CP is getting capped. it's a big freakin' issue as far as my enjoyment in the game is concerned.

Maybe I'm selfish or dumb or whatever you want, but I like playing for a reward. The reward used to be AP, with which you could buy actual useful gear, or camps, anything meaningful. I also played PvP ttrying to become Emperor to get those former emp passives, and also alliance war ranks.

MMOS are the only games where my /played reaches months because I know the time spent will benefit me later. Other games I just play to enjoy the content, and I usually don't spend more than 100 hours on them.

Here they are taking out all the rewards, they are taking out progression, and are leaving us with very little content.

Sounds like a dilemma with some biceps on it. Progression for PvE is always a great thing, however for PvP not so much. PvP should always have some ceiling where players can reach and then battle each other at. Sypher, who as far as I know his entire life is dedicated to PvP, YouTube, and Twitch came to these forums to discuss there needing to be a cap or even "shut off" CP when in Cyrodiil.

So maybe CP should continue when PvEing but somehow be capped or shut off when in Cyrodiil (if that's even possible). There also has to come a point where you need to realize ZOS (or any developer) only has a limited bag of options to choose from in the realm of reality.

    We've all seen that.
Despite the fact that he later added it does not include inactive accounts, it does include plenty of players like several of my friends that have logged in every month or so and then left again after seeing the state of the game who are all sitting in the 70s or lower because they left around the TU launch. That throws the numbers way off.

Not to mention that frankly, if you play consistently and have earned less than 100 in the 7 months since launch, you'll never catch up anyhow. The cap isn't for them and shouldn't be, they aren't going to magically earn 400 points in the next few months before the cap goes up again. The catch up should be for those that are returning to continue playing and will catch up, those guys in the 200-300s range or for those that play consistently but maybe just not as much as hard core guys in that range - those players, with the combination of a cap at 600-700 and catch up mechanic will have no problem catching up to that cap in the next 3-4 months.
