Soul Siphon doesnt Heal Self?

So I was creating a sort of warlock/priest type play style and wanted to use a defensive ult. Since I am going more healer I chose Soul Siphon which is a great burst heal for a group when needed.
But then i realized later on while I was alone that the ult doesnt heal me. Why not? You complete sacrifice 100% of the damage and the ability to CC for a burst heal that doesnt even work for yourself.
Now if I am solo this is literally a wasted ult on my bar, which makes me sad because there isnt a replacement for it, every other ult I have access to is Offensive with the exception of Consuming Darkness which cost more and provides less of a benefit as a healer.

✭Nightblade's Consuming Darkness and Soul Siphon are nearly useless to the caster Soul Siphon loss the damage and stun but wouldn't heal you. Same with the Consuming Darkness synergy it's awesome for the other guysChaos Shadow-Scale: Shadow Archer

Right, which just doesnt make sense to me at all.
