Home Gates Mages Missing

I'm not sure if this was intentional (couldn't find it in the patch notes) but on Azura's star Xbox NA, the guards on the second floor of your home gates are missing. Last patch I would usually take a group of 15 people up there and snare/root them all as the guards killed them. However, this time I went to do my usual thing (first time in "cyrodiil" for a while) and I noticed there wasn't a single guard anywhere to be found. It's an AD buff server so they own the entire map and that place and where you spawn in are the only "safe" places on the map where you can get a little help against the PvE zergs. Is the removal of the mages on purpose? I know they weren't killed, and even if they were they usually spawn back in immediately.

ZOS probably laid them off under the premise their presence contributed to server latency issues.

I think people were grinding them for XP so ZOS just removed them. Just another typical ham-fisted fix by this company.

Oh, that would make sense. So instead of making it so you couldn't get XP from them they just removed them entirely from the game. Makes sense.

They were removed as their initial intention was to stop gate hoppers and scroll snatchers when the gates were closed. Now that the barrier is around the scroll which is only active when the gates are closed, the guards are no longer needed for their original intended purpose.

That makes sense. That's disheartening, though. They were the only lines of defense playing on a buff server who zergs and you're playing solo.

guards are kind weak this patch anyway, unless your on non vet its way to easy to kill guards this patch. Unless you get unlucky and get the bubble of doom.

The guards helped protect people being gate camped, and also added some extra defense when the gates are opened. Now that there is a barrier around the scrolls gate hopping (using the guards as targets for leaps or ambushes) isn't even a problem anymore as they wont accomplish anything other than getting a skyshard. Put them back.

Anyone else notice the irony that the guards where what caused people to be able to exploit through the gate while it was closed. Now with the barrier the guards allowing this would have not mattered.

Lol even not-vets have an easier time killing guards this patch. Not saying that's the worst thing in the world though. xD

True, but when a group of players get the zerg mentality all they do is focus on the one player. If I can tank their damage and keep them constantly focused on breaking cc's/roots/snares then they'll tend to not worry about the guards doing all the AOE damage to them and try to kill me because, well, zerg mentality. Then a well times dragon leap knocks them off the stairs and they all fall to their deaths.

Just go to the 3 minute mark in the video. That wouldn't be possible if I didn't have guards there to help deal some damage while I keep them all busy.
