v15 & v16 materials

Does anyone have any suggestions for how/where to grind for v15 & v16 crafting materials?

I am particularly interested in ancestor silk and rubedite.

I am accumulating them, but mercy it is slow.

Try to trade the materials you don't need for those you want to have. That speeds it up at least a little bit.

Other than that: Be that guy. Chests always have some decon loot, so do the bad thing and camp guarded chests until someone aggros the mobs, then steal it. This is the consequence of ZOS' loot policies.

PLEASE, don't be "that" guy. If you Ninja steal someone's chest or Nirncrux node if they are clearning the mob to get to it, then you are nothing but a coward and set a bad example for others in the game. The best thing you could do is watch to see if they are doing OK against the mob, lend help if needed, and move on. There are plenty of chests out there for YOU to discover.

Really the only place to get the materials in large amounts is from Imperial City. Your hirelings have a chance to send you some each day, but I haven't seen much of the new mats come from them (and I do have my skills pointed out in all the professions).

There are no writs (yet?) for the new materials and with the mats required so extreme for v16, would you want to attempt a daily writ for them?

SO, basically whether you like to pvp or not you will need to head into IC and grind for mats if you want to craft the v15-16 gear (especially for v16 with all those mats required to make them).

Is there any activity that seems more efficient for grind mats:

1. Just running the sewers
2. Doing the non-vet IC dungeons
3. Doing pledges scaled to v15/16
4. Something I have not thought of

(I sure hope next expansion is less about the gear grind)

So you got a third of your first item in each craft. In a week.

I can't tell if you're trying to be rude.

Yes, it wasn't a whole lot, but by only doing the two options I listed, I obtained about that much for each material type. If I spent more time using other means, such as more time in IC or dungeons, it could have easily been much more.

Yes, it wasn't a whole lot, but by only doing the two options I listed, I obtained about that much for each material type. If I spent more time using other means, such as more time in IC or dungeons, it could have easily been much more.

Apologies, it was not intended to give the impression of rudeness against you, only against ZOS who seem to think the rate for materials is a good idea. You know, farming until fingers bleed for weeks to complete one set really makes you want to experiment with unusual set combinations...

Indeed. When they first announced the increase in required materials for max rank, I was a bit a shocked, but didn't think much of it. When they next announced there were no resource nodes and you only get one item per decon of gear.....then I was irritated. One of the many reasons it took so long for me to obtain certain items in other MMOs that ultimately turned me off from them.

I've stuck with vr14 gear for now, blue quality, as it seems to be doing the job...for the most part. Though I have the mats for vr15, I don't have the enchants and they're really expensive right now (another thing that they really did wrong with this DLC) and I'd rather run around in vr14 enchanted gear than vr15 gear with very little overall stat increases, but no enchants.

Had saved $300k gold during my 1200 hours of XBox solo Pve life.
No groups, no Pvp (except when ganked).

I've self crafted:
gold VR16 pants, & purple VR16 bow, all the rest crafted VR15 gold.
Bought Vr16 agility daggers, golded one, bought VR16 Endurance jewelry.
And accidentally bought & bound a VR 16 Endurance dagger...oops....deconstructed it.

Traded Silk & Rubedite for Leather.
Enchanted it all with self crafted gold glyphs.

Dead broke and grinding again...Cyro, Sewers, Fishing, Writs, Craglorn.
But the time Orsinium drops I should at least have the base mats & glyphs, if not the tempers.

I always make sure I fight the mob on top of the nirn node or chest, that way no one can try steal it while i aggro or kill the mob.

Definitely AOE farming in the sewers with a decent group
