What's an acceptable grind rate currently?

An acceptable grind time is based on whether you think you are wasting your time or not. Unless you are just trying to brag.

865k sound about right with all the nerfs to grind spots. You just cant get the million+ xp and hour anymore, that I know of anyway.

Sorry, not trying to brag....was kinda sad this was as high as I could get. Last time I ground out vet levels I was pushing 1.3 mil an hour. (I know when CS dropped and before then some peeps were pushing 2-3 mil per hour. Was kinda hoping thee was hope for discovery of a better place.

Where are you, the OP, finding a place to grind 850k xp per hour that isn't already swarmed by other players grinding? Are you using xp pots to get that rate?

Just your average world mob spots. Not swarmed where I am if it is swarmed I am elsewhere.

1.7mio/hr is bout the top i have grinded with for weeks. 865k/hr is not bad for v5 but not that much. You could easily go over a million.

i'm more concerned about the cp gain than vr being a pain. if user above is getting 1.7 mil per hour then that's a cp every 15 min. So if I did a 20 hour grind 2x a week then i could earn 160 cp a week....or if i took a 7 day vacation and could devote it to grinding that would be 560 cp in a single week.....that said have fun with it i've grinded a 16 hour day before and yeah it's not fun cannot imagine doing 7x20h consecutive.

Not to be negative but I doubt this. I know on XB1 ALL grind spots were overloaded pre-IC with people wanting to max out characters before the release and get as much grinding done before it was all nerfed and it hasnt got much better after. Not only are placed overloaded now but with the increase in mob difficulty and the lowering of XP earned in popular grind spots I find it almost impossible to earn 1mil+ xp an hour. Can you provide a time stamp screenshot as @Faugaun has done with a date stamp and addon proof of the xp per hour? You can stare at a wall or whatever to not show the location, just want the proof.

Easily? No. I'd sooner quit the game than play like this. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against grinders, but it irks me when people use grinding XP rate as the baseline. This isn't how everyone imagines having fun.

consoles you prolly cannot do this, i'm on pc. Most pc players are all ready top level so grind spots have much less competition. Additionally there are much fewer of us, I think. I have 4 vr toons higher level than the one you see above.

after you have done all the quests over and over and over and over ..... you might sing a different tune. I'm levelling so I have 4x ep vr16, one of each class, for pvp.

What I don't get is why everyone is in such a hurry to hit max level... Don't people take the time to enjoy the ride known as simply "the game" anymore?

The faster I get to max level, the sooner I can finally devote more time to making posts about how there's nothing to do ingame.

What I don't get is why there is always someone who posts a similar comment in a grind OP.

As I said, I have no problem with grinding, it just isn't for me. I'd rather quest - and I have done each quest in the game at least twice. I moved four characters through DC areas and I will do it again.

That's not the point though. I just don't think one shouldn't say "vet ranks are fine, XP gains are fine" based only on grinding rates.

For me, alts. I've enjoyed the ride known as 'the game' three times already, I'll be damned if I do all of faction quests 8 times over. Also, some people don't like questing.

For me zero. I do not grind.

I would rather go without and lose than be bored out of my mind with grinding.

To me, gaming is about action, no grinding.

I get enough boring repetitive stuff in my real life to want it in my game.

"Killing" pixels controlled by bad/scripted AI: Boring.
"Killing" pixels controlled by other Nerds: Fun.

Spending gold and crafting gear you will outlevel in a few hours: Nope
Spending gold and crafting gear for that sweet new v16: Awesome

This, in a nutshell, is why we grind.

Hmph. No point in twerking if there's no thrusting. Young people. No stamina.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

But it really is a lot easier now than it used to be. My boyfriend and I decided to level a couple of our lower vets the other weekend by doing some quests in Cadwell's gold (I hardly ever grind either) and managed to get 1 1/4 vet levels in about 1.5 hours. This was casual play and even taking a break or 2 for drinks and smokes. Yes we are subbed and married in game and took XP pots but still, it was pretty freakin fast.

Because after you've done the quest once why would you want to do them all over again? I complete the game 100% on my first character, no matter the game, then after I dont want to go through it again. Why would I want to go the same quest over and over and over? That to me is extremely boring, to each their own. Most people talking about grinding already have 1-2+ characters they've already maxed out and want to know the fastest way to get an alt to max level to play where its actually fun for us, the end game.
