Xivkyn isn't in the crown store (unless they just added it today?). You'd be paying 15 thousand. Why have three crafters though? There are enough skillpoints to do all 6 crafts and still play effectively.

Because I build my crafters way, way back in the Metheric Era (like July of 2014) and getting enough skill points to do all the crafting seemed like a pipe dream back then. They've added tons more skill points since then (Upper and Lower Craglorn, etc.) and I finally started playing PvP. My crafters are also mostly VR5 and suffer from poor choices for races now that caps are gone. Playing them up to higher levels doesn't seem to be worth the effort yet.
And if Xivkyn isn't in the store yet it will be one day. But again, with the double RNG fun (randomly getting loot drops to get random treasure) I doubt it'll be something I'll achieve in game.

You can reset your skill points.
Go to the capital city of your faction where you'll find special shrines.
- Aldmeri Dominion - Elden Root city in Grahtwood
- Daggerfall Covenant - Wayrest city in Stormhaven
- Ebonheart Pact – Mournhold city in Deshaan

Can ontheleftcoast also reset his years worth of research to a single character so he can craft as he can now? No? I didn't think so, so like me he's stuck with multiple crafters.

It doesn't take a long time to relevel your alt. Reaching level 50 in blacksmithing takes a few hours if you really want to.

And 9 traits?
Gonna take a lot more than a few hours.

That's true. But do you really need all 9 traits? Start researching the ones you regularly use. Later you can add the rest.
The benefits of having 1 super craftsman outweigh the rest.
Besides, for a while you can have 2 blacksmiths till you're satisfied with the level and research status of the new blacksmith.
Nope, what may outweigh something for you, doesn't for me. I am a dedicated, completionist Master Crafter and have been in all my games. I don't like redoing things that are already done, either.
I'll get it eventually, just as I got all 387 recipes before IC but this whole setup has just rubbed me the wrong way.
Getting close to the last straw, wrong way.

Thank you... the "duh" factor around here is high. Crafting is *NOT* simply skill points, it's months and months of efforts to flesh out the traits and motifs. Yeah.. "just change it around" I don't think so.

But it doesn't mean it's too late to start putting them into one. You've done it before, you can do it again. Keep in mind that even AFTER xivkyn motif, there will be more motif to come in later DLC. Wouldn't your hard work in transferring traits and craft level to one character WILL save you the trouble later on? Think about it.

Do you realize how many *MONTHS* it will take to do that? My woodworker is 8 trait on everything and 9 on several. Best case, with maxed out passives, to move her skill to say my blacksmith would be something like 6-7 months, maybe longer. That isn't going to happen. And it shouldn't even be necessary. What about that "play your way" tagline they used to throw around? Does that mean anything to ZOS? Maybe it was typo and they meant "pay your way" I can 'choose' to pay outlandish prices in the crown store or months and months of grinding to get a "look". Yeah.. I don't think either of those is going to happen.

this is a case of just poor planning.
even if you wanted more than one crafter, (no sane reason to), you can just research the traits all at the same time on all your crafters.
They all had a very valid point, there is no reason to have more than one crafter alt.
heck, you can have just one character with all the crafting and still have what you need for combat.
you know, you don't NEED to have the glass motif. There's no reason that you should be entitled to it, no matter how much time you put into it. You can just play the game and if you end up ever getting it, that'll be a cool surprise. But if you never get it, the game doesn't become unplayable or anything.
