Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

I have not played for a couple weeks, has the "Takes 10 years to load a zone" bug been fixed yet?

So prior to the IC patch, I was loading zones in maybe 10-15 seconds tops. Up until a couple days ago, it was taking me 4-5 minutes at best.

I am using a Samsung 850 EVO SSD with a 500mb/sec transfer rate and an Intel I-7 3770K OC'd to 4.5 Ghz. I also have 16gb of RAM in Dual Channel. My system is not the problem, fragmentation is not the problem...

So that is why I am asking, has the problem been addressed?

Close. The actual reason is this is intended and that the fix will be available for all of our ESO+ subscribers and will be comung soon to the crown store ;-)

Thanks for taking the time to reply with your answers. Guess I'll just keep waiting and hoping.

I like to play the Guild Merchant systems of buying low and selling high, so I need to travel around a lot to find those good deals. This current load screen bug makes it impossible, due to those long loads.

I also like to pickpocket and steal stuff and run into the safe havens but again, those long loads just break the whole "is it worth my time" thinking.

I know most will not care, but this crap has gone on long enough I don't have all damn day to wait on a loading screen that may or may not crash the game. Before anyone gets the bright idea to say its on my end its not trust me.I think my ass is going to Fallout 4 and maybe single player crap.

It seems on the PC that the load times have gotten better. Or, maybe I am just used to it.

I have not had one of those really long 4 or 5 minute load times for a couple of weeks now. The few times I did, I exited out of the game and relogged so I am not sure how long it would have taken.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Its the same on console, so its a bigger issue. Was slightly better last night. So 4-5 minutes instead of 5-6

Load screens are still too long since IC dropped. Its getting annoying and it needs to be fixed.

Yeah every-time I see a patch I read the notes and think yeah thats cute, but it doesn't help me if I can't load into get to the content. All these patch since the dlc are nice little changes, but do me no good if I can't get to the content.

Because I have several characters that I do daily writs on it is taking me over and hour, closer to two to get my writs done because of these load screens. I am in college with tons of homework to get done and this takes away from actual questing, PVP time that I could be enjoying because of these long load screens. A few weeks back in another thread ZOS posted a reply saying they are aware and working on the issue and that the fix will be in "next weeks patch" I think that was posted around September 3rd.

I have ESO installed on my SSD. My current loading screen times have been around 45 seconds, which is still long compared to what they were previously. In fact, I can't remember how long they used to be since I never really paid attention to it back then lol.

I checked for a patch today, no fix yet.

Have the devs acknowledged this issue yet? Honestly, the game is not enjoyable at all with these loading screens wait times. I was having a blast prior to the IC patch where it seems this problem stems from.

    IMPORTANT:
The loading screen duration seems to be dependent on the characters.

With update 7, the loading screens take MUCH, MUCH longer with vet characters.
If you create a new character, the loading screens have the same length as with update 6.

It looks like there is something going on with vet characters in the background now.
This is either a bug or they run extended preload-calculations in the background now for vets.
This was also found to be the case with another player in this thread.

Yes, and we also have a theory now as well

With the Update 7, especially on PS4 we notice two things:
    - loading screens take much longer now with vet characters
    - blue screen crashes are almost gone now

The theory: A lot of calculations that did happen in the open world before (until Update 6) now may have been deffered to the loading screens (in Update 7). Such "preload calculations" can reduce the required computing power later and probably the crashes.

Remember the massive stutter problems Skyrim had on PS3 when savegames grew beyond 10 GB? Bethesda had to find a way in Sykrim to reduce the ingame calculation load.

With ESO, the former crashing on consoles may also have happenend because the consoles are too slow to do all world calculations in time. The longer you play a character, the more you change the world and your character, and the more ESO has to adjust. The devs probably decided that it is safer now to do such adjustment calculations during the loading screens before the actual gameplay starts. Of course, this is only a theory, but it's plausible.

I haven't really tested this out but I have noticed that when me and my brother play he always loads the zones 10-20 seconds before I do. My machine kicks his machine right where the sun don't shine so I know it isn't a hardware issue and we are both on the same internet.

The only real difference is that he is playing a v2 while I am playing a v8.

Here are two threads on the topic.

Actually, I think you're very wrong about that. I think most people do care about this. The long loading screens are affecting everyone (although not all to the same extent), so I don't think you'll find people telling you that it's on your end. I mean some of it might be partly on your end, but it's clear that the underlying problem is on ZOS's end.

Personally I've found that the loading screen if I'm logging in to a character in Rivenspire takes the longest - it can be upwards of 5 minutes, and never less than 1 full minute. I used to like to park all of my Daggerfall characters in Shornhelm in Rivenspire. Not anymore.
