Champion Point Cap - how much CP do you have now? (September/October 2015)

In relation to latest discussions on the idea of introducting CP cap I decided to ask all fellow Tamriel adventurers how much CP you actually have so it could provide a bit of insight on the matter and allow us to see whether there are any CP gaps and if so - how big they are.

Keep in mind this thread is going to be bias, since a large portion of the more casual players that have low CP either never had a forum account or visit very rarely.

Yes, obviously. The perfect methodology would be to have an answer from 95% player-base, which is simply not possible. So we just want to get as much as possible and we'll wait a bit with the conclusions.

Nahh we prob could get a decent feel. Like I'm at 245, I usually log in daily or at least 5 times a week. Got a vr14, vr8,vr9,vr10 9havent updated my sig in awhile). But not all playtime is xp equal. I can play for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Hopefully more on weekends. However, most of this time is now spent in bwb on my new orc Krogmak, or doing crafting stuff or stealing everything in sight across different characters. Sometimes I go on fishing expeditions, sometimes just delve dive for motif pages. I know I have at least 10 points worth of enlightenment stored up but simply if I have an hour to play I'm not going to grind out 3 or 4 cps but pvp on bwb. Trying to level krogmak possibly up all the way through cyro is an idea I'm toying with.

I've also played since beta if you're looking for a timescale for the cps.

Of course theres huge gaps between players, even 1 hour more per day than other player can mean huge different.

I agree with some other posters, the people ZOS needs to keep are the people who wont come to the forums and moan and post and still pay but the people who are casual when they find they can no longer compete, no one wants them for raids etc then they just quit no long posts no complaining just no more money.

Good idea @F7sus4 . I just polled my guildies. That said, the problem isn't what players have, as much as the existence of caps at all. Because, its an indication that ZoS does not know how to manage their own system.

I think I have 71 total on my one VR8 toon. One toon to rule them all. I get about 12 hours a week of play time tops and maybe 1 hour of that is grinding. Mostly I'm just doing random BS. I probably should have passed into VR14 2 months ago. Regardless, I went over 1400 career kills on XBox this week and considering I spend about 6 hours a week in PVP clearly I'm doing something right.

For those that don't know you can check out your kill count on XBox by comparing your gamercard to one of your friends.

If we were to go by the results of this poll so far it would be safe to set the cap at 1000 CP as most are around 300 and
would be insta capped if they set the cap to 300.

At this point, 64% of responders are between 0 and 300 CP. And the people who spend time on the forums are likely not a good representation of the player base. We are almost certainly more dedicated and hardcore and have more CP than a "normal" player. So if almost 2/3rds of us are below 300, I am guessing that the broader community is an even higher percentage less than 300.

I am guessing that cap would have been 300 if cap had been introduced with Imperial City. I don't think it is coincidence that is the number of CP given to us on PTS for testing back in August. That was 5 months after the CP system launched in March. 5 * 60 = 300. 60 CP per month equals about 2 per day. That requires 500,000 XP per day. Which is not easy to get if you are not specifically trying to earn XP. General content like questing, dungeons, and PvP do not provide much XP. You have to make most game decisions with an eye toward XP gain if you want to earn 500,000 XP in the 2 or 3 hours per night that most players are online.

Heck, many of the people in my guild, really fantastic players, have earned hardly any CP since Imperial City launched. The XP is horrible in White Gold Tower and Imperial Prison. All the days and days spent wiping in there at first, to learn mechanics, earn you practically no XP. Even getting good at it is more about trying to get gear drops, not XP. The speed run achievement of Imperial Prison is 45 minutes. And what does a 45-minute clear give you? Maybe 30,000 XP? Good luck earning 2 CP per day that way.

A cap of 2 CP per day sounds quite reasonable. If Orsinium and the cap come in December, 9 months after CP introduced, I think 9 * 60 = 540 CP cap makes a lot of sense.

Developers currently track everyone's progress, so they have 99.99%(or at least a very high percentage, compared to a forum poll) accurate info. on the current situation regarding CP. I'm assuming this thread is just for the players that browse the forums to get a good idea of what the developers might know?

Yep. If people are going to make predictions about a cap, better to have some data to underpin it.

The devs have real data. We have polls that represent a small fraction of data and people filling in the gaps with their imaginations. I'm not sure that's a good idea, but since it's the best we've got might as well have some fun with it;)

901 CP and more (how much?)

I hit 1k cp about a month before IC was released. Spent alot of time grinding those suckers out, never used any exploits etc, just mostly grinding in Cyrodiil delves. My record in one day was 13 cp and that was before xp potions were introduced. I averaged probably 1cp per hour, and around 1 per 40 mins with potions, but I didn't use Cracked Wood alot. I'm sure there is a considerable number of people out there with more cp then me.

Probably like alot of people I don't pay much attention to forums since I prefer to be playing the game...and I can tell you from personal experience in pvp - your accumulated cp don't mean squat if you play badly or make bad decisions in pvp - i'm sitting over 1.1k cp and all gold armor/willpower jewelry etc atm and I still get wrecked by sta builds spamming charge and wrecking blow if I don't react very fast and appropriately, even then sometimes the sta builds just seem overwhelming to my poor mag sorc.

A champion point cap will not balance the game/disparities, there are deeper issues....

It will make me cancel my sub if I no longer have any reason to earn xp.

You mise well just autogrant people cp per month.

Everquest and D3 (and other games) have similar alternate experience systems and have never proposed caps etc, that i'm aware of, it may help mitigate some of the disparities in pvp but as someone who has played and loved the game since beta, and has spent A TON of time leveling those cp for my build, I dislike this idea intensely.

Apply a cap to pvp if you must, I expect it to not accomplish much, but I see no reason to apply it to pve.

I have 270 and i have been playing this game since release. I just can't grind. Its too painful. A month before IC launched there was a bunch of people with 1K+ points, and they were grinding 8-10 hours a day with exp pots. Its obvious i will never be able to complete with these people now and for the first time since release I'm considering quitting.
